While this may have been true for its time, ''Link's Awakening'' has since been confirmed to take place after the ''[[Oracle series|Oracle]]'' series according to the official timeline in the artbook [[Hyrule Historia]]. The exact reason why Link left Hyrule, according to the ''Link's Awakening'' manual, was to train and better prepare for the next threat to face Hyrule.
