Black Guards are enemies in Cadence of Hyrule.[1]

Characteristics

Black Guards are the strongest variant of Green Guards, possessing the most health and attack power and can only be found in dungeons. They always carry shields, preventing them from being attacked in the front. However, if Cadence, Link, Yves or Zelda is wearing the Ring of Piercing, or use the Great Bow orFragarach, they can be attacked from the front. They always move to the beat of the music, and share their movement pattern with other guards.

While passive, they will prefer to move in the shape of a circle either clockwise or counter-clockwise, always crouching for one beat before hopping to an adjacent tile on the second beat. However, if their path is blocked off by an object or enemy on one beat, they will hop away in the opposite direction on the next beat without crouching, then resume their normal beat pattern for two beats, crouching and then hopping away one more time before attempting to form another circle. When they see any of the heroes, they will become aggressive and chase them with their swords while moving on every other beat.
