The '''Black Tower''', officially named '''Ambi's Tower''', is a massive tower made of stone featured in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages|Oracle of Ages]]'' that was built to the heavens 400 years in [[Labrynna]]'s past by the order of [[Queen Ambi]].<ref>{{cite|This is the entry to the tower being built to the heavens by the order of Queen Ambi.|Construction Worker}}</ref>  

Originally, the project of building the tower was intended to guide Queen Ambi's love, the [[Captain]], home from the sea. These plans for the construction of the tower change, however, when the Oracle of Ages, [[Nayru (Oracle)|Nayru]], arrives and becomes Queen Ambi's most trusted adviser through Veran's cunning. She convinces the queen to build the tower all the way to the heavens so as to go down in history as Labrynna's "greatest queen".<ref>{{cite|Oh...I shall be known as a great queen...Nayru, Oracle of Ages, give me an endless day, so the people can work without stopping to rest! And when the tower reaches the heavens, you shall go down in history as the greatest queen to ever live!|[[Possessed Nayru]]}}</ref> She also tricks the queen into allowing her to use the powers of the Oracle of Ages to create an endless day so the people would be forced to work on the tower without ceasing. Oblivious to the misery she was bringing upon her people,<ref>{{cite|It's not like Queen Ambi to drive us so hard. We're so busy we don't have time to sleep!|Construction Worker}}</ref> Queen Ambi's project, Ambi's Tower, begins to earn a new title amongst her subjects: the Black Tower.

Later on, [[Link]] follows Veran into Labrynna's past with the aid of the [[Harp of Ages]] and solves the mystery of Veran's goal. Link begins a quest in secret to find the eight [[Essences of Time]] that could enable him to penetrate Veran's magic and defeat her. Over the course of his quest, the tower continued to rise toward the heavens,<ref>{{cite|The Black Tower is growing! I have a very bad feeling...|[[Maku Tree (Female)|Maku Tree]]}}</ref> After completing the final dungeon, the young hero gets informed that Queen Ambi has left her palace temporarily to inspect the tower's construction. Link takes this opportunity and enters Ambi's Palace and is able to use [[Mystery Seed]]s to eject Veran from Nayru's body. At this moment, Queen Ambi returns to the palace and inadvertently becomes Veran's new host,<ref>{{cite|Are you truly Nayru? You seem different...You seem nice...|[[Queen Ambi]]}}</ref> leaving Veran now in complete control of the construction of the Black Tower. While Link continues his quest for the Essences of Time, the tower soon reaches the heavens with Labyrynna being controlled by a possessed Queen Ambi.  

Eventually, Link succeeds in finding all of the Essences of Time and receives the [[Huge Maku Seed]] from the Maku Tree, who warns the young hero that he must stop Queen Ambi at the Black Tower and cast down Veran for good.<ref>{{cite|You must stop Queen Ambi at the Black Tower and cast down Veran! In the Present about halfway through a Linked ''Oracle of Ages'', [[Impa]] will be at the [[Black Tower]]. She will warn Link that [[Vire]] has kidnapped [[Princess Zelda]] and taken her into the tower and asks him to go save her.<ref>{{Cite|Link! Great timing! Please, Link, you must find a way to save Zelda!|[[Impa]]|Oracle of Ages}}</ref> The rescue of the Princess plays out like the original Donkey Kong game with Vire as Donkey Kong, Princess Zelda as Pauline, and Link as Jumpman (Mario). After she is saved, she will give Link the {{Sec|Magic Ring|Blue Joy Ring}}.
