Why exactly do we have this article? This feels like advertisement. Is this hoax really deserving of its own article, much less one as long as this? Champion of Nayru (talk) 18:39, 12 November 2013 (UTC) Champion of NayruReply[reply]

The "Ben" story has a significant following in the Zelda community. It falls within Zelda Wiki's project scope.
I don't see any problem with the way it's written. It's very detailed; I don't think it reads like an advertisement.
A definite "no" for me on merging or deleting. There are many iffy community articles, but this isn't one of them. — Hylian King [*] 00:11, 13 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I don't quite understand why we have an article for this one story, but we do not list LPers. How is this any different? Champion of Nayru (talk) 01:30, 13 November 2013 (UTC) Champion of NayruReply[reply]
I don't see how that's particularly relevant. Are we to scrap every article on single-author fan projects because the wiki doesn't list LPers? — Hylian King [*] 09:31, 13 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I found it odd that we refuse to list popular LPs, but we list popular fanfiction. Shouldn't we have consistency in that we either have pages/sections for popular fan works or none at all? Champion of Nayru (talk) 16:15, 13 November 2013 (UTC) Champion of NayruReply[reply]
What I'm saying is, it makes more sense to use articles like these as precedent to add info on LPers, rather than use a lack of info on one particular thing as a reason to delete articles that are reasonably well established. In any case, we already have Community:Let's Play. But if you'd like to revisit the LPer discussion, we can do that. (Here's a previous one for reference.)
Articles should stand or fall on their own merits. It's counterproductive to have an "all-or-nothing" attitude regarding consistency. Two subjects can be made to seem as alike or as different as one needs them to be for the sake of their argument. — Hylian King [*] 00:29, 14 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Why do we have this page?

I am as big of a fan of Creepypasta as the next guy, but Creepypasta is not Zelda. The Ben Drowned hoax is just an extremely popular fanfiction, not even a theory. This wiki is supposed to be giving accurate information, and the FEW well SUPPORTED theories, but I do not feel that there should be fanfiction on this site, especially ones that have no real connection to canon information. This page is a fanfiction that does not even connect canon information, so why is it here? Even fanfiction that did connect canon information would still be just that, fanfiction. Why would a fanfiction be allowed on a site that constantly shoots down personal theories from being posted? This page should be deleted as well as similar pages. This wiki should provide quality information about the Zelda franchise, not quality stories. We should remove the fanfiction and many theories. If you think theories are acceptable then I believe that they need to be well supported or they should not be posted on this site. I am sorry if this proposal offends anyone, but I want to get my view out there. Dark Mirror's Link (talk) 19:29, 5 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

These are significant parts of the fandom history. I agree they should not be in the mainspace (Community:, preferably), but they're worth reporting on in a way that clearly separates them from canon information.KrytenKoro (talk) 22:33, 5 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I would agree on information that was truly relevant to the Zelda franchise, but BEN Drowned is not even of true relevance. Yes, the game it centered on was Zelda, but is the creepypasta really Zelda themed? It is not. If it was at least Zelda themed instead of Zelda included than I would agree with you, but the only Zelda thing about it is that the game used was a Zelda game. It being a Zelda game had little to do with the creepypasta outside of choosing an audience for it. BEN Drowned is not truly Zelda coverage, it is a fanfiction that used Zelda as a medium. Title concern

The title of this article kind of gives it a negative sound. I wouldn't really classify this as a hoax, as it formed into an ARG soon afterward and wasn't intended solely to fool people into believing it was real. This is just a small concern I have, and I figured as the guy who runs the Jadusable Wiki, I'm obligated to bring this up. The rest of the title is actually correct, as that's the name of the ARG, but I guess "hoax" has just taken on such a negative connotation that it makes this out to be more of a small prank than a beloved ARG. Would it be a problem to remove "Hoax" from the title? Captaindesdinova (talk) 21:35, 14 April 2017 (UTC)Reply[reply]
