Deku Scrub
Deku Scrubs are small creatures that have the ability to spit and Deku Nuts at their enemies. They look as if they were made of wood, hinting that they had evolved from plants. They played a small role in OoT, in which they were both enemies and salesmen. If you defeated a salesman type Deku Scrub, known as a Business Scrub, they would try to sell you an item, always way overpriced.
Majora's Mask explored a different side of them, as there was a functioning society composed entirely of Deku Scrubs. They were situated in the swamp of Termina and had a monarchy. Their royal family was composed of a King and a Princess, which were served by guards, yes-men, and a butler whose son had mysteriously disappeared. Skull Kid also turned Link to a Deku Scrub. When he was healed, he received the Deku Mask.
Deku Status
In Majora's Mask, we can now understand dekus and how they work and/or function, in the game deku shrubs are widely known as kids wild an adult is simply named deku, most deku speak english or hulian as it may be, very well and they cn be very kind at times, if a unknown strager eve goe near a Deku it will attack, walking close to thm makes them sink into a deku flower.
Deku Flowers are like shells to turtlss, some Dekus get very personal with there, if other dekus try to enter with out permission, one could get ery angry and/or become mke a fightout of such although this has never happened in Link's presents, when dealing with natural elements, Dekus can have a dramatic way of handeling things, for example.
1) Dekus can deal with water but if they happen to venture in deep areas they will skip to survive drowning, link plants, to much water can hurt them, this could mean that they may have hollow parts within them o they have parts in them.
2) Dekus are also flammable, if they get to close to a open flame, there wooden skin could make the fire travel faster then a normal human which makes the burn much worse then a Zora, if a Deku die in any way, shape or fasion they will revert to a tree-like state, where they may or may not stay in (this is seen at the end of Majora's mask) the buttler's sees to stand near a tree with a face, that could very well be his son h misses so well.
These creatures basicly live in deep forest and in lush soils, and there are some types of Desk that can even glide but after useinga deku flower. Dekus are first seen in Ocerina of Time abd become of one of the very many races of hyrule.
