==Characteristics==

{{Term|OoA|Head Thwomp}} is battled in a side-view {{Wp|Platform game|platforming}} section of the {{Term|OoA|Wing Dungeon}}. It floats in the center of the room, constantly rotating between its four faces of different colors and expressions. Three small platforms that {{Term|OoA|Link|link}} can jump onto with the {{Term|OoA|Roc's Feather|link}} float in a circle around {{Term|OoA|Head Thwomp}}, and ladders on the sides of the room allow {{Term|OoA|Link}} to climb to a higher vantage point.

{{Term|OoA|Head Thwomp}} will periodically fire {{Plural|OoA|Podoboo}} on its own, sometimes also firing a {{Term|OoA|Bomb}} item among them that {{Term|OoA|Link}} can collect to replenish his supply. {{Term|OoA|Link}} must time his jumps to dodge {{Term|OoA|Head Thwomp}}'s attacks and throw {{Plural|OoA|Bomb}} so they land when its red face is showing. After taking damage four times, {{Term|OoA|Head Thwomp}} will be defeated and will make one final slam onto the ground before disappearing, leaving behind a {{Term|OoA|Heart Container|link}} and a path toward the {{Term|OoA|Ancient Wood|link}}.
