Hidden Village
The Hidden Village is a location in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It lies north of the Eldin Bridge. Early in Link's quest, entry into the village is blocked off due to a rockslide. In order to restore Ilia's memory, Link goes in search of clues. One clue, the Wooden Statue, triggers a memory from Ilia when it is shown to her. She remembers that someone saved her from monsters and is still in danger of them. Gor Coron recalls where he has seen the Wooden Statue before, and that leads Link to the Hidden Village.[1] Link goes there to rescue the one who helped Ilia with the aid of Darbus, who breaks through the rocks to clear Link's path. When Link first visits the town, it is occupied by 20 Bulblins which he must kill.[2] After he slays every single one, the only other resident of the village, named Impaz, comes out of her home.
Most of the buildings in the village were abandoned and ruined by the Bulblins, and only Impaz's house was still fit for residence. Impaz's house is also home to several cats that she takes care of. There is a Howling Stone located behind a house, and after it is saved, the village is also filled with cats and a single Cucco. In the backyard of one of the abandoned buildings, Link will find a Howling Stone as well as a cucco who asks the Link, in wolf form, to play a game with the cats in exchange for a prize. The various strays wandering the village will play a mini-game with Wolf Link where he has to talk to each individual cat at least once. Listen to the Hidden Village music here.
Trivia
- In Link's Crossbow Training, the 'Kakariko Shootout' stage takes place in Hidden Village, and is essentially a replication of the Hidden Village Bulbin scene from Twilight Princess.
- Impa as seen in Ocarina of Time was, as she directly quoted, "born and raised" in Ocarina of Time's Kakariko Village, whereas the Hidden Village was implied to have been built by her.[3]
Theory
It is heavily implied that this village is an older Kakariko Village, the ancient village of the Sheikah,[4] mostly due to a sign saying "Welcome to Old Kakarico" in Hylian (misspelling noted).
