==Themes and Navigation==
After making their way through {{Term|FSA|Lake Hylia (Four Swords Adventures)|link}} and the {{Term|FSA|Cave of No Return|link}}, the {{Plural|FSA|Links|link}} finally make their way back to {{Term|FSA|Hyrule Castle|link}}. As they approach the castle grounds, {{Term|FSA|Kaepora Gaebora|link}} arrives and warns them that a terrible {{Term|FSA|Phantom Ganon|display=fiend|link}} inside the castle is leeching power from the captured {{Plural|FSA|Maiden|link}}. He cautions them that in order to rescue the {{Plural|FSA|Maiden}}, they must first face this incredibly dangerous foe. The {{Plural|FSA|Links}} also find a signpost left by {{Term|FSA|Tingle|link}}, which informs them that an adorable female {{Term|FSA|Fairy|link}} {{Term|FSA|Tingle}} met had gone inside the castle and has not been seen since. {{Term|FSA|Tingle}} signs off that he suspects she was captured, and implores that someone save her.

The castle's interior and exterior, for the most part, greatly resembles the one from {{ALttP}}, although it is considerably larger and contains even more rooms than its predecessor. {{Plural|FSA|Soldier (Enemy)|link}} heavily patrol the castle grounds at every corner and attack intruders on sight. Two {{Plural|FSA|Bomb Soldier|link}} also patrol the entrance from the castle walls high above, and throw {{Plural|FSA|Bomb|link}} at anyone who comes near. The {{Plural|FSA|Links}} must find an underground entrance to the castle to activate a switch that opens the gate to the castle. At the castle's courtyard, the young heroes encounter a {{Term|FSA|Chief Soldier|link}} as well as a legion of {{Term|FSA|Hyrulean|link}} {{Plural|FSA|Soldier (Enemy)}} that will try to stop them from gaining access inside the castle.

Once inside the castle, the {{Plural|FSA|Links}} explore its various chambers as well as the roof in order to open the main door situated at the center of the castle, where they come upon a large arena that forces them to fight and defeat a {{Term|FSA|Ball and Chain Soldier|link}} as well as numerous {{Term|FSA|Hyrulean}} {{Plural|FSA|Soldier (Enemy)}}. After their defeat, the {{Plural|FSA|Links}} find that the rest of the castle is bordered off by a magical barrier, preventing their approach. Through searching the area, they eventually find a {{Term|FSA|Zora|link}} imprisoned in a chamber. The frustrated {{Term|FSA|Zora}} explains that she had heard the cries of the {{Plural|FSA|Maiden}} and came to investigate, only to find the castle ridden with {{Plural|FSA|Soldier (Enemy)}}. They had captured and split her in two, resulting in her current shape. She asks the {{Plural|FSA|Links}} to help her find her other half in order to return to her former shape.<ref>{{Cite|I heard the maidens' cries and came running to find the castle a nest of fiends. They captured me and split me in two. That's why I look so horrible right now. Please, I beg of you. Reunite my two halves! Make me whole again!|Zora|FSA}}</ref> Once the {{Plural|FSA|Links}} find the second half, the two {{Plural|FSA|Zora}} request to be escorted to the barrier that blocks the {{Plural|FSA|Links}}' way. There, they merge together and are revealed to actually be the {{Term|FSA|Fairy Queen|link}}.<ref>{{Cite|I didn't think I would ever be allowed to reclaim my true form as a Great Fairy again! Thank you so much, brave ones!|Fairy Queen|FSA}}</ref> She immediately assists the young heroes by smiting all on-screen Soldiers and dispels the magical barrier, allowing the {{Plural|FSA|Links}} to continue.<ref>{{Cite|Uh-oh! It looks like those soldiers have noticed us. I'll take care of this!|Fairy Queen|FSA}}</ref><ref>{{Cite|So this is the magical barrier that barred your way? Allow me to take care of this.|Fairy Queen|FSA}}</ref> The {{Term|FSA|Fairy Queen}} then thanks them and promises to tell the other {{Plural|FSA|Great Fairy|link}} to help them whenever needed.<ref>{{Cite|I'll let all of my friends throughout Hyrule know... "If you run into four travelers with one face, tend to their weariness and ease the burden of their travels!"|Fairy Queen|FSA}}</ref>

The {{Plural|FSA|Links}} continue to search the castle and its chambers while running into many more enemies along the way. At the throne room, the {{Plural|FSA|Links}} push aside the throne to access a hidden passageway that leads to the rooftop, where the {{Plural|FSA|Links}} ultimately face against {{Term|FSA|Phantom Ganon}} as the evil fiend leeching power from the {{Plural|FSA|Maiden}}. Once it is defeated, a stairway reveals itself to a hidden chamber where the {{Plural|FSA|Links}} find four {{Plural|FSA|Barrier|section=Vaati's Barrier|display=dark barriers|link}} imprisoning the {{Term|FSA|Blue Maiden|link}}. The freed {{Term|FSA|Maiden}} explains to them that the dark shadow that captured her and the other {{Plural|FSA|Maiden}} was a {{Term|FSA|Shadow Link|display=being|link}} that looks just like the {{Plural|FSA|Links}}. She implores that they save {{Term|FSA|Princess Zelda|link}} and the remaining {{Plural|FSA|Maiden}}. Sensing that the next {{Term|FSA|Maiden}} is imprisoned at the {{Term|FSA|Eastern Temple|link}}, the {{Term|FSA|Blue Maiden}} tells them to travel by sea under her protection and transforms herself into a {{Term|FSA|Fairy}} to guide them. The {{Plural|FSA|Links}} are then warped to the next area, {{Term|FSA|The Coast|link}}.
