Template:Species The Parella are an aquatic race featured in Skyward Sword. They are seahorse and jellyfish-like creatures that inhabit Lake Floria.[1] They were recently attacked by Ghirahim and his monsters. The Water Dragon Faron who protects the Parella and the other creatures who live in Lake Floria was wounded as a result of the attack.[2]

Appearance and Features

Parella appear to be a mix of a seahorse and a jellyfish, containing the head and tail of a seahorse and the body of a jellyfish. Parella also appear to be highly accomplished swimmers being able to swim great distances without tiring. Due to the Parella's lack of bones they can easily fit into confined spaces that Link can't.[3]

Notable Parella

Jellyf

Main article: Jellyf

Jellyf is a red Parella who serves as the leader of the race. She guides Link through Lake Floria.

Theories

The Parella Tribe may have eventually evolved into the Zora Tribe sometime between the Sky Era and the Era of the Hero of Time. This is supported by the similarities the two share, such as both being sentient semi-aquatic creatures, and also the fact that there has been an instance where the Zora evolved into another tribe, namely the Rito.[4]

Trivia

  • Their Japanese name, Parage, is likely derived from the Japanese word for jellyfish, Template:Japanese.
  • According to Hyrule Historia, the aquatic race featured in Skyward Sword was originally going to closely resemble the Zora. However, the designers were told to go with a more primitive design, and the idea was rejected.[5]
