Princess Ruto

From Zelda Wiki, the Zelda encyclopedia

Princess Ruto is a Zora, the daughter of King Zora who resides in Zora's Domain in Ocarina of Time. She is an adventurous young Zora and manages to get herself stuck inside Lord Jabu Jabu's belly. Link saves her, and she hints that they might marry when he is older when she gives Link the spiritual stone of the zora. She is pretty arrogant as a child, always asking to be carried around and whatnot but as an adult she is completely different. She is found in the Water Temple, in a small room on the bottom floor where she guides you to a place that will help you progress through the dungeon. She has not forgotten about the little arrangement they made when they were young (it was more like forced onto Link by her) , or found another partner. Either way, A Zora and a Hylian might not work out anyway. Regardless, she is the Sage of the Water Temple. Some people believe that Ruto town in the Adventure of Link is named after her. It is also thought that the Rito tribe's name may have come from her. In Twilight Princess, when Ganondorf escapes from his attempted execution, the sage he destroys carries the water symbol possibly implying Ruto's destruction.
