A mysterious warrior with great wisdom and strength, Sheik (シーク, Shiiku) is one of the last surviving Sheikah in Ocarina of Time. He aids Link on his quest without really describing who he is or why he is aiding Link. He has great advice, wisdom, and knowledge of the world, making him an invaluable ally for Link. All of the quotes from Sheik can be read here. Sheik is also the teacher of the various teleportation songs that Link uses later on in his quest.

Sheik reveals himself to Link shortly after Link is freed from the Chamber of Sages after his seven year imprisonment. He informs Link that he must awaken the seven sages in order to bring peace back to Hyrule. Alerting him of the need to possess a new tool in order to enter the temples, Sheik stays in front of the pedestal. He then later appears when Link arrives at the Sacred Forest Meadow. He tells Link about the warp songs used to teleport to temple entrances and teaches him the Minuet of Forest before disappearing again. Further along, Sheik approaches Link at the Fire Temple entrance in the Death Mountain Crater, teaching him the Bolero of Fire before walking away, using a wall of flame to halt Link's inquiring advance.

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Zelda has the option of transforming into Sheik. To do this, you must press down the analog stick while pressing the B button.  Sheik has a completely different moveset than Zelda. Sheik's moves and weapons are quick and similar to those of a ninja.  Sheik is an extremely speedy character and for this reason she could be a bit difficult to control.  Although she has an original moveset, she is found to have similarities with Captain Falcon. In Melee, the two of them have a more powerful star rod attack. In the game, Sheik is always referred to as a female.

He returns to find that OoT (Himekawa), having awoken with the face wrappings off, appears to be a woman. Fully transforming, OoT (Himekawa) is revealed to be OoT (Himekawa), who later explains that she had OoT (Himekawa) lock her consciousness away and assume the disguise of a OoT (Himekawa) boy.
Sheik first appears to Link having tended his wounds after being defeated by Volvagia. Sheik is a spy for Ganondorf and later shows up to tell Link a rumor that Princess Zelda had been spotted in the Desert of Illusions, before vanishing again. On Link's way through the Desert, he nearly succumbs to blistering sands before Sheik pulls him out and continues to travel with him. Later that night, Link is be attacked by illusions and images of his past, but Sheik is unaffected; Link wonders if it could be due to a lack of past in Sheik's life. Once reaching the Gerudo Fortress, Sheik knocks Link out, and the Hero is captured.

Once Link frees himself, he fights through the ranks of Gerudo, before Sheik comes to him with his sword and shield. Throwing them to Link, Sheik attacks the invisible Twinrova, who were watching nearby. They accuse Shiek of being a traitor. Shiek replies," A traitor? I was never one of you!" The Twinrova then blast Sheik into unconsciousness.

SSBM has the option of transforming into SSBM by pressing down the Stick while holding the B Button. SSBM has a completely different moveset than SSBM that are not based on magic, as her moves and weapons are quick and similar to those of a ninja.

Gender Issues
-
spoiler
Start
As Sheik spends most of the latter part of the game disguised as a male, many fans have argued to Sheik's true identity. There is no hint given in the game that Sheik is in fact a male; however, at one point Ruto refers to Sheik as a "he". This is most likely explained by Ruto being unaware of Sheik's true nature. Sheik's build being more suggestive of a male.
SSBB appears again in SSBB. Although she did not appear in TP, the character model was based on a design drafted during the game's development. HH contains designs of - SSBB as she would appear as SSBB, drawn specifically for -.

Various theories to Sheik's true gender exists, partly due to the Ocarina of Time manga, which deviates from canon, in which Princess Zelda had sealed away her consciousness and transformed herself into a Sheikah male. However in both Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Sheik is refered to as female throughout and more importantly her trophy information states her gender as female. While the Super Smash Bros. series is not considered canon all the trophy descriptions are, given that there sole purpose is to describe people, places and things from previous Nintendo titles, and therefore Nintendo has officially declared the Sheik's gender as female.
She has mostly the same moveset from -, and shares a SSBB with SSBB, the SSBB, although SSBB's deals more damage. In addition, SSBB can now crawl, wall jump, and use her Chain move as a tether recovery.

In SSBB mode from -, SSBB is first introduced after Solid Snake saves SSBB and Peach when they are captured inside the Halberd. Although he orders them to stay put, SSBB transforms into SSBB to escape along with Peach to the battleship's front deck. Eventually, they reach their destination when suddenly Fox in his Arwing destroys one of the airship's turrets, shooting near where Peach was walking. Thinking that Fox was aiming at Peach, SSBB teleports onto Fox's Arwing and, using her hand, shatters the cockpit window. This forces Fox to eject out of the Arwing and land on the battleship's front deck along with SSBB. Although the two begin to fight, Peach stops them by offering a cup of tea to Fox. Confused at first, Fox looks over to see that SSBB has already begun drinking the tea, thus realizing that SSBB and Peach are not his enemies as he accepts Peach's offer and joins them.

HWDE appears as a playable character in HW. She appears in the story when HWDE goes missing. Unlike her previous incarnations, HWDE does not go to great lengths to hide her feminine physique.

HWDE uses a HWDE as her primary weapon, with which she can unleash elemental effects from, as well as playing the "HWDE" along with the other OoT3D for OoT3D from -. As HWDE performs combo attacks, an elemental HWDE note will appear beneath her HWDE Gauge. The notes allows HWDE to perform different charge attacks based on the element, which is done by hitting her Strong Attack button (Strong I). These notes do not have a time limit and will go away if Strong I is hit. A different Strong Combo will switch it out.
* The note HWDE gets from her Strong II Combo is for "HWDE"; it surrounds HWDE in a shield of HWDE that can absorb up to four HWDE worth of damage.
* The note HWDE gets from her Strong III Combo is for "HWDE"; it creates a fire glyph that explodes into a flame geyser with a delayed detonation.
* The note HWDE gets from her Strong IV Combo is for "HWDE"; it produces an electric whirlwind that surrounds HWDE even while moving.
* The note HWDE gets from her Strong V Combo is for ""; it produces a field of HWDE that paralyzes enemies and damages them.
* The note HWDE gets from her Strong VI Combo is for "HWDE"; it creates a rectangular field of HWDE that will regenerate her HWDE Gauge when standing in it.

When activating HWDE, HWDE performs "HWDE". When deactivating it in front of a group of enemies with the A button, sprouts grow from the ground and suddenly burst into HWDE. HWDE's HWDE has her strum her HWDE in rhythm, causing a huge wave of notes on surrounding enemies. She also uses a kunai for basic, quick attacks.

HWDE is later revealed to be HWDE in disguise during "HWDE". She had been in disguise to protect her identity from the enemy forces. From this point in the game, HWDE and HWDE both become options for HWDE. If either HWDE or HWDE are selected as HWDE, HWDE will take HWDE's place as leader of the Hyrulean Army.

*In the game Paper Mario, released two years after Ocarina of Time, there is a Little Mouser king named Moustafa. To keep himself from being found, he disguised himself as a information dealer named Sheek, most likely a reference to Sheik.
*Although BotW does not appear in BotW, the BotW and BotW appear to be based on her. BotW can also appear if the Series Series is used.
