The compass can be found in Deepwood Shrine. First you take the lotus down over the water fall. Then you keep going until you hit a fork, proceed to the right. There'll be a switch, use one of the jars to hit the switch. Proceed up, to get to the blue treasure chest push the stone on the right up and the other stone left. TA-DA!
