Oh no, this aint gonna fly. This is virtually a carbon copy of the ZP article which was clearly stolen. A few months ago, I've said that this guy stole something of ours and it was brushed off. Now I come on here for the first time in months and see this within 60 seconds. Who knows what else was stolen. Now I would like to present you with your own rules: [1]. So yes, if you want to give me a week long block go ahead. But you best believe the guy who stole this better get a block as well per your own rules. Thank you. --EDJoe45 23:35, 21 August 2010 (EDT)

You really need to stop doing this. These two articles are not even close to being copies. And by those very rules you just mentioned you ignored some very big points. One, you're not supposed to make a scene about this in public. Two, the concept involved here is called convergent thinking. This is a very small subject and all accounts of it are going to be similar and there's no way around that. You don't have to right to just jump in and claim theft on such minor subjects. I'd ask you to stop trying to stir up trouble. This really doesn't look like anything more than an attempt to start a conflict. Which is actually against another one of those very rules you mentioned.User:Matt/sig 03:54, August 22, 2010 (UTC)
You're so full of crap and you know it. There is no way you can say these aren't near identical. Barring our differences in basic coding, even the paragraphs match up. --EDJoe45 00:00, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Really you should stop coming here to spy and try to start a conflict. Both websites are about the same Game. If you want us to prevent improving our pages just because you had some pages created before us, you failed. I think you're just jealous seeing how our pages are better than yours. Jeangabin 08:24, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
And you should also have a look at this: our article and yours. Also take a look at their date of creation. Jeangabin 09:28, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
The date of creation has nothing to do with it, you edited that article in August of this year, to match up with the text of Zeldapedia's article, which has been in the same state since October 2009. What you are suggesting makes no sense at all, and only inflicts damage on yourself.User:Steven/sig 09:40, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Really, I don't care. But why do they use the same adjectives and images?? Jeangabin 09:42, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
And they really have the same sentences. Jeangabin 10:36, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Because, with the exception of the infobox image, you put the "adjectives" and other image in the article yourself, so you tell me.User:Steven/sig 09:46, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Oh really?! Look at the article before I began editing it. And also look at this one: ours and theirs, same organizatin and same images.
Also they don't even have the other image. Jeangabin 09:52, 22 August 2010 (EDT)

Of course the names and organization are the same, they are articles on the same subject, what is not acceptable is exact text copied between wikis. That is the discussion at hand, so please refrain from changing the subject. As for the Medicine Shop Owner, I see barely any recurrences between our text, and Zeldapedia's, in that revision.User:Steven/sig 09:55, 22 August 2010 (EDT)

Really Steven either you have a preconceived opinion either you're dishonest. Jeangabin 10:00, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
I agree with Steven and EDJoe45. --Wilbur 10:42, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Oh another guy from ZP!? Can you explain you're point please?? Jeangabin 10:47, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Err... I'm not actually from ZP, but whatever. Anyway, they've already explained this pretty well, but I can summarize it for you. The text of articles you create or edit seems extremely similar to articles from this ZP place, or at least it does in the cases provided. You're arguing that content is likely to be similar because it has the same subject, but that argument is null because the articles should be similar in general information provided instead of in details like adjectives and word choice. --Wilbur 10:59, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Then we must also assume that its also the case for the Medicine Shop Owner... Jeangabin 11:02, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
But you added the parts of the article that are the same as Zeldapedia's version after they added them to their article. I dislike ZP and wikia in general, but I can't deny that they're right in this situation. --Wilbur 11:09, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
No no no, I haven't added the similar parts, they were here before I even had an account here. Also they were on our article before they created the artice about the Medicine Shop Owner. Jeangabin 11:11, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Oh, oops. I guess I misread it. However, I noticed that the articles were created by the same person. Does that count as copyright infringement? If so, I would want the person in question to face consequences. However, you have also plagiarized articles and should also face consequences. --Wilbur 11:20, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
I don't know, but the guy who created this article is crafty. He now only does one or two edit per year here, but stole images other user have uploaded to add them on ZP. Look at this one: ours uploaded by Dany (look at the first version) and theirs. And there is plenty other exemple of them stealing content, sentences, images... from ZW. And now they try to trick us. Jeangabin 11:29, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
I'd like some example of that besides one image and an article that was created by the same person that created ours. Also, they aren't tricking us; you've said nothing to exonerate yourself and are likely plagiarizing their articles. --Wilbur 11:34, 22 August 2010 (EDT)

I dont see any similarities between the Knights of Hyrule articles save that fact that both have a picture of the Knights Crest half way down the page Don Lark Kiin 14:13, 22 August 2010 (EDT)

When did the Knights of Hyrule articles enter this discussion? --Wilbur 14:16, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Jeangabin gave two links from each site above for some reason. his discussion is straying off however it should be about Sahasrahla's Grandson Don Lark Kiin 14:18, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Never mind. Didn't see those links. --Wilbur 14:20, 22 August 2010 (EDT)
Guys, this discussion is over. We're currently dealing with it accordingly, so there is no longer any reason to continue discussing this.User:Justin/sig 14:21, 22 August 2010 (EDT)

Mistranslation?

I'm not sure this character was actually intended to be Sahasrahla's grandson. I haven't seen the text from the Japanese version of the game, but the awkward references to "the grandpa," which doesn't seem like something a native English speaker would actually say, sound like they could be a mistranslation of "old man" or something similar. Is anyone able to check this? -TPIRFanSteve 07:17, 8 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I agree that the references do seem a little out of place, and could possibly be a mistranslation. From what I've seen, it seems that "Grandpa" and "Old Man" are pretty much interchangeable when translating from Japanese. Plus, characters that obviously have no biological connection to other characters, such as Ciela and Oshus, have still referred to them as "Grandpa" in the past. Seeing as I have no idea how to translate Japanese correctly, I can't really check out the original text. Does anybody know if the original text or the manuals say anything about this? Dannyboy601Talk 09:59, 8 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm fairly sure they're not actually related, and he is just referring to him as "old man", which is often translated as Grandpa (like Ulrira). He always calls him "the" grandpa too. I will check the Japanese text, but for now a merge into Sahasrahla's Friend seems sensible, until a better name can be found. User:Fizzle/sig 00:34, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
In the Game Boy Advance version, he calls Sahasrahla "the old man" instead, suggesting that "the grandpa" was indeed a mistranslation. Raymond1922A (talk) 02:49, 13 January 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
