Goddess Sword

The Goddess Sword is an item featured in Skyward Sword. First introduced in a leaked E3 2009 artwork, it is a sword that possesses intelligence and is inhabited by a spirit known as Fi. Eventually, the Goddess Sword becomes the Master Sword.

History and Abilities

The Goddess Sword is located in the floating island known as Skyloft; however, Link eventually finds the sword and uses it to travel between two lands: Skyloft, which is an island floating above the clouds, and Hyrule, which is being ruled by evil forces. According to Eiji Aonuma, when the Goddess Sword is helping Link, it will transform into a human figure and will lead the young hero back and forth from Skyloft to the land below. Moreover, the sword has a "treasure-seeking ability" called Dowsing. It can sense important items and inform Link about them.

If Link holds the sword up to the sky, it will be charged up by "energy from the heavens" and be able to release a Sword Beam once it's swung. The sword will also focus "heavily on the reason why there are two lands divided by a bank of clouds."
