Windfall Island is a market town in the Great Sea region of The Wind Waker. There are multiple places of interest on the island, including a potion shop, bomb shop, windmill lighthouse, school, cafe, auction house, and prison. Many sailors have found there way here, although their ships are never around. Windfall Island is the highest populated of all the islands in The Wind Waker.

Windfall Island could be the top of the Kakariko Village in Ocarina of Time after the big flood, due to the fact that there is a big windmill similar to the trade mark windmill in the Kakariko Village in OoT. Plus, the background music of Kakariko Village and Windfall Island is almost the same. Also Windfall Island is next to Dragon Roost Island, which is also believed to be the remains of Death Mountain which is next to the Kakariko Village.

Link first encounters Windfall Island after being cast out of the Forsaken Fortress and rescued by the King of Red Lions. It soon becomes apparent that the entity at the fortress has taken its toll on the island in its search for young, pointy-eared girls.

The King of Red Lions immediately makes it clear that he neads a sail in order to travel the seas; and Link first encounters the strange Zunari, who offers him a sail for 80 rupees. The Zunari-induced Island Trading Sequence in the game is central to this point; where Zunari eventually "retails" his flowers. The island is also the source of many other character (and puzzle) related sub-quests and minigames, such as that of Miss Marie's Joy Pendant obsession and the Picto Box quest.
