The Wooden Shield is the L-1 Shield in the Oracle games. It can be upgraded to the L-2 Iron Shield and later the L-3 Mirror Shield.
The wooden shield also appears in Twilight Princess and can burn up like the Deku shield of OoT, Link can upgrade to the Hyrule Shield later in the game.
