[[Zelda Wiki.org:Pieces of Heart|Pieces of Heart]] are helpful in the Zelda universe, and they're helpful at Zelda Wiki.org. This week's Piece of Heart: Rules for the new image templates!

[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] has just the solution.
Every new image uploaded must be correctly attributed to its creator/editor/redistributor. There are four possible options when doing this, and a template for each:

===To create a new userbox:===
# [[Template:FoundImageZW|FoundImageZW]] -  Applies to images taken from one of the [[Zelda Wiki.org:About|sites connected to ZW.org]].
#First, choose a name. This should always be <nowiki>{{Template:User xxxx}}</nowiki> (where xxxx is your description)
# [[Template:FoundImage|FoundImage]] - Applies to images taken from '''any other website'''.
#To create it, just edit any page (such as the [[Project:Sandbox|Sandbox]]), type <nowiki>{{Template:User xxxx}}</nowiki> and preview. This will give you a red link to your desired userbox template.
# [[Template:ImageSelf|ImageSelf]] - Applies to images scanned/captured/photographed/drawn/photo-edited by yourself (in other words, "your own work", copyrights notwithstanding.)
#Then, just copy and paste the code from any other existing userbox. Substitute a new image, text, HTML colour codes, and usage instructions.
# [[Template:Imagenosource|Imagenosource]] - Applies to images whose source is uncertain, unknown or currently undeterminable.

To correctly attribute your image, simply go to the image's page after upload, and add one of the above as appropriate, in the format '''<nowiki>{{
</nowiki>''name exactly as listed above'' }}'''

In addition, should the image depict any characters or elements of Zelda games, or other Nintendo games (including, but not limited to, all screenshots, artwork [official or otherwise] and symbols), you '''must''' also display the template [[Template:c-nintendo|c-nintendo]]. —[[User:Adamcox82|Adam]] ([[User talk:Adamcox82|talk]]) 20:51, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

  • We need people stating where they got their images from. You MUST supply the source of an image if it is not taken from one of the seven websites that own the wiki. Please see the list of Image Templates that you can add to an image's article page to attribute source and copyright information and begin adding these to all images.
  • We're missing a bunch of articles. Bunches of articles you might not have known existed. Have a look at the Wanted Pages page and see what needs to be created, and get to making those articles! The wiki loves you for it.

Pieces of Heart are helpful in the Zelda universe, and they're helpful at Zelda Wiki.org. This week's Piece of Heart: Rules for the new image templates!

Every new image uploaded must be correctly attributed to its creator/editor/redistributor. There are four possible options when doing this, and a template for each:

  1. FoundImageZW - Applies to images taken from one of the sites connected to ZW.org.
  2. FoundImage - Applies to images taken from any other website.
  3. ImageSelf - Applies to images scanned/captured/photographed/drawn/photo-edited by yourself (in other words, "your own work", copyrights notwithstanding.)
  4. Imagenosource - Applies to images whose source is uncertain, unknown or currently undeterminable.

To correctly attribute your image, simply go to the image's page after upload, and add one of the above as appropriate, in the format {{ name exactly as listed above }}

In addition, should the image depict any characters or elements of Zelda games, or other Nintendo games (including, but not limited to, all screenshots, artwork [official or otherwise] and symbols), you must also display the template c-nintendo. —Adam (talk) 20:51, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

  • Image Templates are now created and working, and more will be added. Use these to identify the source and copyright of an image - adapt them the same way you adapted citing sources. Like citing sources, using image templates is necessary.
  • We're looking for more sites to join the collaborative cause! If you're webmaster of a Zelda fan site and want to help out and get your members to help out the wiki, send an e-mail to jason [at] zeldauniverse.net!

There is currently a movement to add more dungeon imagery to Dungeons in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Check out the discussion going on in The Heart Container, and perhaps go on a screenshot hunt yourself. The goal is to replace all of the map images on that page with screenshots of the dungeon's entrance. The following dungeons need entrance screenshots:

Please be sure to tag images with the appropriate image template after you upload your screenshot.
