The Zora Armor is a tunic in Twilight Princess.

Location

File:Zora Armor Icon TP.png

It works in similar fashion to the Zora Tunic in Template:OOT, and was designed by the King Zora.[1] Although the King doesn't make an appearance in this game, his wife Queen Rutela does. She rewards the clothing to Link when he helps deliver her son to Kakariko Village safely.[2] The queen appears as an apparition to the young hero and guides him to her husband's grave in the Kakariko Village Graveyard, showing him the Zora Armor and then laying down for her eternal rest.

Uses

Like the Zora Tunic, the Zora Armor allows Link to breathe underwater as long as he is wearing it. It also allows Link to swim underwater, functioning similarly to the swimming aspect of the Zora Mask of Majora's Mask.[3] With the combination of the Iron Boots, Link can also safely walk on the ocean floor. A new twist, however, makes Link more vulnerable to Fire and Ice attacks while wearing the armor, so it is designed to be more situational rather than a replacement for the current clothing. The armor looks like chain mail with short sleeves, unlike Link's normal tunic. It also has a helmet similar to what Zora soldiers wear, yet smaller and only goes on the forehead, and a mask which covers his mouth and nose whilst in the water.

Trivia

  • The Zora Armor seems to be an amalgamation of several other "underwater breathing" objects seen throughout the series. For example, the armor bears a strong resemblance to Link's default tunic, but is blue in color, suggesting that it may incorporate a Zora Tunic like those seen in Template:OOT. It also has flippers, which brings to mind the Zora's Flippers first seen in Template:ALTTP. And in particular, it appears to have many Silver Scales, which also appeared in Ocarina of Time, sewn into it. Whether these are coincidental, allusions, or deliberate is unclear.
