{{Plural|BotW|Ancient Research Institute}} was a facility established for the sole purpose of researching {{Term|BotW|Ancient Technology|link}}.<ref>{{Cite Book|quote= |book= CaC |publisher= |page= 374}}</ref> It was placed in proximity to {{Term|BotW|Hyrule Castle|link}}, one of three known sources of {{Term|BotW|Ancient Energy|link}},<ref>{{Cite Book|quote= |book= CaC |publisher= |page= 404}}</ref> to remain under the control of the {{Term|BotW|Royal Family of Hyrule|link}}.<ref>{{Cite Book|quote= |book= CaC |publisher= |page= 396}}</ref> After the thorough destruction of the {{Term|BotW|Ancient Research Institute}} during the second {{Term|BotW|Great Calamity|link}}, it was abandoned and became the {{Term|BotW|Royal Ancient Lab Ruins|link}}. {{Term|BotW|Robbie|link}} and {{Term|BotW|Purah|link}} fled and formed their own individual {{Plural|BotW|Ancient Research Institute}} in the two other known sources of {{Term|BotW|Ancient Energy}}, the {{Term|BotW|Akkala Ancient Tech Lab|link}} in {{Term|BotW|Tumlea Heights|link}} and the {{Term|BotW|Hateno Ancient Tech Lab|link}} in {{Term|BotW|Hateno Village|link}}, respectively.
