Naming

Since this page is more or less theorizing the 'bird' and what it could be, 'Eagle' might be the wrong word to have in the title. Ganondorfdude11 (talk) 03:44, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

I think it's more of a Phoenix. A Phoenix is normally portrayed as a red fiery bird, which the symbol looks like. Ganondorfdude11 (talk) 18:40, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

What about the Loftbirds from Skyward Sword? It's pretty much a 100% guarantee that the bird on early Hylian Shields is a Loftbird. For later shields though it's less certain. The shield from Wind Waker looks more like a Kargaroc than a Loftbird, and the ALttP shield looks as though it could of been a Loftbird, yet twisted through countless generations of story telling. --Kargaroc (talk) 14:49, 25 July 2011 (EDT)
