Citation Needed

Is a citation really needed to say that Hyrule/Lorule is a pun on high and low? Drake Clawfang (talk) 00:05, 21 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Perhaps not. The statement was just made so boldly I figured that there was a developer quote stating as such or something. Does the Japanese name have a similar meaning? Champion of Nayru (talk) 05:10, 21 November 2013 (UTC) Champion of NayruReply[reply]
The Japanese name for Lorule is the same, ロウラル/Rouraru/Lorule, the word thats part of it, ロウ/Rou, is also a Japanese Word for *Low*. Just like ハイ/Hai from ハイラル/Hyrule means *High*, Source: http://ga-m.com/image/news/2013/11/14/zelda-triforce-2-yuga-9.gif and http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/bzlj/world/images/slide02_img02.png. --Vaati The Wind Demon (talk) 14:31, 21 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Theories section needs to be added pretty quickly

There is heated discussion occuring on fansites that Lorule may in fact be the Termina of this particular timeline, or could even be the Hyrule of that Majora's Mask timeline.

This needs to be written up soon I believe, as these theories a getting popular. Colliric (talk) 08:40, 30 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

See, the issue with that is there is literally no evidence that suggests that, in fact, there evidence opposing it. Termina is not a mirror universe, intact its geography is completely differnet, while Lorule is very similar. Termina is very technologically advance comparatively, Lorule isn't. Both are alternate worlds; we don't need to speculate that some of these worlds might be the same. Twilight Realm is Dark World discussions and the like are very tiring. Champion of Nayru (talk) 09:29, 30 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree(but not about the "No evidence" thing, obviously it wouldn't be a popular theory without having somesort of Evidence, so there's definitely something to it) Nonetheless it's a theory that isn't going away now that people have played the game... It's only getting discussed more! So it may need to be addressed in the future, given that this Wikia includes the popular fan theories on alot of pages(heck even theories on "Distorted N64 textures"!). I agree, Maybe not include it for now, but note that it is a very popular theory about this game/world. If another person decides to add it here, I would support it staying. The full "theory" includes the fact that in this timeline, Link died fighting Ganon, therefore was not alive to stop the Moon smashing into this Termina. So the point about Termina having "better technology" and somewhat different Geography is probably irrelevant to the theory itself, given that the Moon hitting it would have changed such things.Colliric (talk) 10:00, 30 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That's not evidence, though, that's speculation. Evidence would be pointing to Majora's Mask...except that that's in Link's Hyrulean house before the worlds connect (also kind of f***ing with the "defeat" timeline, since shouldn't the mask only be cleansed in the Child Timeline? Gah, and FSA...). What in the game says "this would best be explained as the remnants of Termina"? I mean, for one, Termina doesn't have a Princess nor a Triforce, so it explicitly cannot be Lorule, but...what'dya got?KrytenKoro (talk) 14:41, 30 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Holy shit...... http://www.zeldadungeon.net/2013/11/majoras-mask-references-in-a-link-between-worlds/ !!! Didn't expect to find that! Crap. Clearly a reference to the Game itself at the least! Seriously didn't expect that! Colliric (talk) 15:16, 30 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That really isn't evidence of anything. Countdowns are not really a reference to anything. It's about Yuga and Hilda. Not at all related to Majora's Mask. Champion of Nayru (talk) 17:25, 30 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Aonuma recently stated that there was supposed to be something in ALBW about Majora's Mask. To quote his Facebook page:
"I see many of you have been asking about a remake of Majora's Mask for Nintendo 3DS. It's nice to see such a strong response to this title, and we haven't forgotten about Link's adventures in that world. If you play A Link Between Worlds, you may better understand what I mean by that."
This is likely referring to the Mask appearing in Link's house. As far as the mask "only" being purified in the Child timeline, prove it. Maybe there's something we don't know, like in the defeat timeline Skull Kid never stole it and the Happy Mask Salesman was able to cleanse it. But that is, of course, only a theory. We don't know. Anyway, back to my point. There might be references to Majora's Mask (and I think the diary might be one), but references are not implications, either. --KingStarscream (talk) 16:53, 6 December 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
ALBW makes a lot of subtle references to past games but nothing is more than a real reference, although Majora's Mask is a fairly big one. I haven't read the diary yet, but the masks the Lorule people wear are a clear reference to both Majora's Mask and the original A Link to the Past (almost all the masks are based on the Dark World resident appearances). As for other references, there is the Hinox who pays you to leave him alone and the gruff merchant from the original NES game. Some might say that the twilight sky of Lorule is a reference to the Twilight Realm too, and Hilda is a vague reference to Midna, while Yuga bears similarity to Ghirahim, but these are more thematic than direct references. Fairly sure that Aonuma was referring primarily to Majora's Mask. Note that the leader of the masked cult also has an appearance similar to Majora's Mask. However, Lorule has no known link to Termina, and as the mask is just a decoration we don't even know if it's the real thing. User:Fizzle8094/sig 17:45, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
I think that it's nothing more than Easter Eggs, so we don't need to create theories about an improbable Lorule/Termina connection. --Iggy Koopa Jr (talk) 18:40, 6 December 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Spoiler

Just under the history bit of the page it has a pretty big spoiler, I just came here to check out what was up with Lorule, and was spoiled with talk about Hilda asking Yuga to steal Hyrule's triforce. So I don't know how to get that sorted out, but I'm sure many people would appreciate it if there was some sort of warning there. Thank you WoollyRex (talk) 22:47, 28 December 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
