Actually, I'm not quite sure how those ones worked. But, as I'm sure you have noticed. I've found a much better way to accomplish the same thing. Here is what you type:

{{#ifeq:Object|Condition|Text if True|Text if False}}

In place of object you put what you the variable that you will use. So if it is on a userbox like {{User Userbox Name|{{{1}}}}}, then you would put {{{1|}}} in place of object. Don't forget the vertical line. or "pipe". In the condition you put what you want the object to equal. Here is an example of the code that would have worked for the diamond userbox. I bolded the edges for clarity.

{{#ifeq:{{{1|}}}|||And their friend code is {{{1}}}}}

With that code, if the field is empty it would put nothing down at all. But if there is something in the field then it would put down that sentence and whatever was in the field.

It is the name of the function. The function is one of the parser functions from the extension we have. Putting that there tells that what followings it is a conditional statement. If you don't put that in it won't work.--Emma 21:21, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

That wasn't worded right I'll change it.
In a template, there can be those options after the name. When you want the value of the option your just the number of it with three brackets on each side. Putting the pipe in will make sure your talking about the option and not the value. If you don't put in the pipe, it could still work, but it is better to be safe than sorry. MediaWiki says to put the pipe in. It doesn't have to be an option either. It can be one of those variable functions on the editing help page. But you don't use a pipe when you use a function. The best example of this is the Day template I made. That is what changes those pictures on my userpage everyday and the quotes in the blueish userbox of mine. It is also what makes those Feature Content templates I made work. So don't mess with the day template. You can look at it though. Any more questions.
If so then I might give my fingers a rest. Seriously! I think I have typed over ten-thousand characters all together here, at Deviant Art(asking the image creator something), and at Zeldapedia (discussions with the admins over there) since I woke up this morning.

Blocking Time Guidelines

I was thinking of making a table for blocking users. It would show the recommended time to block a user for doing something. I expect it to be expanded or corrected by you guys. This will show the range of times. The greater the severity the longer the time.

Oh, I just saw this. Hm.

Interesting idea. My thought is, if it's obvious that their intentions are, dare I say, evil, then I infinite block. And if it turns out that they thought that they were doing good for whatever reason (remember the Ice Temple and Sand Temple incident? ...anyone?), then there's always the option on my user page to email me if they so desire. They can contest the blocking that way, and who knows, I might give them a second chance. Still, though, other offenses by established users that still need punishing (such as the past case of assumed harassment by a... former member a while back, you may not have been here for that) will get timed bans, depending on the severity. --Ando 02:51, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Alright, children, gather 'round, and listen to the tales of, uh... stuff.

The temple issue was... weird. I log in one day and see about six edits to Arbiter's Grounds that had just happened. "What the heck?" I think to myself, and check these edits. Turns out someone was trying to replace various fields in the dungeon infobox with "Sand Temple" or trying to add a new field called "Theme = sand". Needless to say, this didn't really work out. The problem was, they were making edits just as quickly as I could undo them. I left them, like, three messages saying "Yo, stop, don't do this no more." "Seriously, stop, that's not going to work." "I WILL BLOCK YOU, SIR, IF YOU DON'T STOP."

I was hesitant to block, though, as this situation had happened before, and it took the person a good 10 or 15 minutes to notice my messages and say "oh, crap, sorry". So maybe the same thing was happening now? Wait, no time to think about it, they've moved on to Snowpeak Ruins and are trying to perform the same failed experiment, only with "Ice Temple" this time. They only tried editing City in the Sky once with "Wind Temple" before they just edited the pages with "This temple is also known as the [x] Temple." Nobody calls them that. D:

They eventually stopped editing (I guess the fact that I used the oh-so-MAGICAL rollback button about a million times finally hit them) and haven't come back since. :/ I think that I ended up blocking them for... something. I don't really remember.

Not sure if I should talk about the member harassment, as I'm not sure what he'd think about that (granted, he's not around anymore), and some might consider it gossip. I'd rather not be the dude who talks about people behind their backs. --Ando 14:13, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

"User X" made user page with some self-derisive content on it. "User Y" posts on their talk page agreeing with the self-derisive content in an attempt to be "humorous", but it was taken as quite serious and as offensive harassment, and so User Y was blocked for three days to think about what he'd done. Righto. Just... mentioning that I only edit others' user pages when it's absolutely necessary (like when someone puts their user page in the People category!). Fixing the spelling of our own Wiki seemed necessary. :P

Sometimes it's really hard to tell when you're joking, though, especially since sarcasm is hard to detect over the internet. Triple-Boot

Is easy. You can do it too. however, to answer your question: 1) I am asking people to suggest 1, and 2) You dont need to have 1 seperate drive to stor seperate operating systems. I know how to make multiple-boot PC too. I took a class on it. My PC has three drives on only one hard drive too. I set it up that way. One drive for general use, one for backup files, and another for misc storage (which is currently empty). I was lucky. The class was called IT Computers. I our IT guy taught the class. But because we started having all High School student get Tablet PCs last school year, it is no longer offered. We learned about the hardware, software, OS, stuff like that. I put this PC together from other ones because of that class. Fresh hard drive. 120 GB. Pretty good for a 2005 hard drive. Most new PCs I see in the stores are still coming with the 40 GB or 60 GB drives. It took the class in the second semester of the 2005-2006 school year. I'm talking too much. I bought the hard drive in spring of 2005. My PC has a ZIP drive. That's because the tower used to be my dad's school PC and he used it there. But my Dad signed a grant to buy thirty laptops for his classroom in the summer of 2006. He had a computer lab just for his classroom, yes that is very rare for a small town school it there it was. The computers were sold off and my dad made sure I got the best one. After we switched to the Tablets the laptops went down to the Middle school. The last semester of the 2007-2008 school year I was one of the technical assistant. I worked at help desk one period a day. If people had a problem with their tablet they came to me. I'm talking too much. Problems I fixed were, tightening screens, fixing the active desktop thing, replacing screens, replacing keyboards, re-imaging the hard drives, replacing the hard drives, repairing/replacing a stylus, fixing misc errors that they had, and similar things.
I started typing this at 12:42PM central time (1:42PM eastern). I was looking for add-ons when I checked here. I'm still looking. I've found some good ones.--Emma 18:05, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Guys, go get the Toolbar Buttons add-on now!!! It is awesome!!!!!. It has a button for about:config, undo closed tab, open add-on manager, toolbar change, link to Firefox extension site, all of the major email buttons, show/hide status bar, Wikipedia link, install add-on from file, restart Firefox, view source, customize toolbar, close tab, go to top and bottom, and more. I want to know if it's possible to make a certain picture come up for a certain value. Yes, that can be done. Since it is more than one thing you use switch.

Matt, could you make the modifications to the Template:User Linux right now? I can't seem to get it. After you do it, i'll fix up my Windows and Mac templates based on what you did. Anyways, just use the 4 images i uploaded. Their names are pretty self explanatory, but dont misspell Mandriva like i did, it's logo image was named Mandrica. Here goes. The format .jprg closely related to .jpg but is never used. The formats .jpg and .png are compressed formats. With jpg the image quality intentionally made poor in order to make it smaller and repeated data is stored only once. The format .png does the same as .jpg only it does not effect the image quality. .png also supports transparency, but .jpg doesn't. The .gif format is like as evil version of the .jpg, it does the same only to reduce the quality it limits the amount of colors to a very low amount. The only plus with .gif is it supports transparency and animation. Also there is the format .bmp. It store its information as raw data. So it does not compress and the quality is maxed. It can't have transparency. Each format would make an image of a different size so here they are, smallest to biggest:

gif → jpg → png → bmp

Image quality worst to best:

gif → jpg → bmp → png

Nothing. It is a conflict. Something got canceled out. Delete the line that says this:

Did you know that if you type the code for a template that was moved, so it is a redirect, it will display the template that the redirect points to?

You need that add-on from my hints page. abcTajpu (x). Then install it. Go to tools, abcTajpu (x), then options. Remove all the junk in the text box. Then type "p=" in it, no quotation marks. Then type your sig with wiki code. Remember put {{subt:!}} instead of a |. This is mine:

This has been driving my nuts since I joined. The date and time format on the preferences screen doesn't work. I'm doing it myself. Replace the ~~~~~ with one of these:

• For UTC time
  • {{subst:CURRENTTIME}}, {{subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{subst:CURRENTDAY}}, {{subst:CURRENTYEAR}} (UTC)
    • 19:42, June 22, 2008 (UTC)
• For your time
  • {{subst:LOCALTIME}}, {{subst:LOCALMONTHNAME}} {{subst:LOCALDAY}}, {{subst:LOCALYEAR}} (CDT)
    • 15:42, June 22, 2008 (CDT)

Adding subst: makes sure that it just saves the result and that the time won't change next time someone saves the page. Sea, I'll be right for your time, just change the CDT to EDT. But I suggest keeping with UTC, it'll make it easy to tell when the posts are. That will do it. Sorry Adam, but quite frankly putting the day of the month before the month is just wrong. It should only be done if the day has a "st", "nd" ,"rd", or "th" (I forgot what those are called) and the word "of" is placed before the month (i.e. 22nd of June). That is what I think.
We can also add the day of the week. It is {{subst:LOCALDAYNAME}} for local time and {{subst:CURRENTDAYNAME}} for local time for UTC time.—Emma^{(T C H)} 19:42, Sunday June 22, 2008 (UTC)
