Moving Names to Data:Translations pages

Hello! I noticed that you've been carrying names and translations from the Names template on pages and moving them over to Data:Translations pages. This is actually something we want to avoid, and is one of the reasons we adopted the Data pages in the first place. Data pages are meant to be held to a higher standard than the Names template, because they're on their own pages dedicated to just storing that information. Because they weren't on any separate pages before, it was much harder to control and check for the quality of the names and translations, and unfortunately many fan-made and unofficial names have made their way into those sections. They cannot be considered reliable for this reason, and so they shouldn't be carried into Data pages unless they happen to have a citation verifying them.
I'm very sorry for having to undo the work you've done to collect and add those to the Data pages, but hopefully I can save you time by telling you about it now. I'll look into updating the Guidelines to better explain the history and rationale of the decision to change templates. TriforceTony (talk) 17:09, 15 June 2023 (UTC)

Oh, I thought that the Names template was deprecated and was meant to be replaced with the Nomenclature template--did I misunderstand?

So is the reason why what I was doing wasn't actually what you guys needed because there were no citations/references for those terms that used to be on the name table? So if there were actual citations or references confirming the validity of those terms, it would be okay? I wouldn't mind verifying the validity of them myself and adding citations such as game manual references since the Internet Archive has many manuals uploaded in various languages that I could access.

I'm also in the discord server with the same name, so feel free to message me on there if you want to talk about this more! I tried to only move terms that either A) specifically referenced what game using the exponent game template or B) only appeared in one game so there is only one possible version it could have come from.
