== Four Swords artwork ==
{{Hello}}
So I'd like to do some [[Zelda Wiki:Image Alteration|Image Alteration]] work on those {{FS|-}} images you've recently uploaded. I noticed that some of them, like the Bow for instance, have faint outlines in the black part, which is a good thing for making edits. However they are partially cut off by the image cropping, and other images that don't seem to have outlines may have had their contrast bumped up, effectively hiding the outlines. My questions are: Do you know if these images were scans from ''Art & Artifacts'', and if so, is it possible to obtain copies with less cropping and contrast? [[User:Htwretched|Htwretched]] ([[User talk:Htwretched|talk]]) 01:45, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
:The black outlines seem to be thicker than the ones in the game's manual, so I'm not sure if they were meant to be like that. I can send you the full, uncropped page through the Discord if you wish. {{:User:Chuck/sig}} 03:35, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

== Martha's name questionable ==
So I'd like to discuss and suggest that "Martha" being the Mermaid's name is incorrect. Just because one piece of official Nintendo merchandise refers to her as "Martha", doesn't mean that's her official name. The Zelda Encyclopedia released by Dark Horse never refers to her as Martha. Not in the character page for LA, nor in the item descriptions for the Necklace or the Scale items involved in her part of the trading quest. It only says "the mermaid" or just "mermaid". The old guide book released for Link's Awakening also refers to her only as "mermaid" as well. The easter egg section of the Piggyback BotW guide referring to Martha's Landing, "Martha is a mermaid encountered in Link's Awakening", just doesn't seem right. The Japanese name of Martha's Landing is just "Martha's Bay", a direct reference to the location from LA and not the supposed name of the Mermaid. I think this is simply a case of the author trying to find a connection, and looking up something like, "Martha Zelda" on Google and coming across all the wikis with her name labelled as Martha. This has already happened with the Super Mario Encyclopedia, where the author used a made-up fan name for an enemy that came from the Mario Wiki. I'd even like to suggest renaming her character page to just, "Mermaid". There is literally no official material other than the BotW guide that calls her Martha. I think my trivia contribution she be put back the way it was as well. I strongly believe that everyone has assumed her name has been Martha all these years just because of the location she is in. There's not even official confirmation that the translation "Martha's Bay" is correct. "マーサ" could even mean "Mercer". {{Unsigned|Vyzor15|05:04, 14 June 2019‎ (UTC)}}

Hey, Chuck.
== Dark Link strategy ==
Hi I'm just inquiring about the method I recently added to the wiki, I am new to the wiki (in terms of editing) and I literally just created a Gamepedia account just for this. The video I put a link to is mine as well (for transparency's sake). When you say the official guide and Zelda site say the official way of beating him is spin attacks and other items it raises a lot of questions. I've just tried the spin attack method and Dark Link never gets hit by it, Z-lock or no, I did read that someone managed to get a 50% hit rate somewhere but I don't know how and it doesn't sound too reliable. So for spin attacks to be the official solution seems sketchy to me. The other methods while cool and creative seem like cheese strategies, i.e. not the intended solution to beat Dark Link. Which Zelda site are you referring to? This wiki or the official Zelda site/Nintendo site? I looked and couldn't find anything on there.

I wanted to congratulate you on your contributions to the wiki so far. You're doing great, keep it up!
Did you see my video? What did you think of it? My main motivation for all of this is because it really does appear to be the intended solution, i.e. the fight is completely fair, you can completely avoid damage if done correctly. Also it is consistent with the puzzle element that all bosses have and you are allowed to use the master sword and z-lock, in fact it only works when you do that. The extended stagger animation that Dark Link does that allows you to land a hit seems programmed in and NOT a glitch, but I could be wrong. Also to stagger him by alternating vertical and horizontal strikes could be about mastering the training at Kokiri village and relates to the "conquer yourself" hint that Navi gives you. {{Unsigned|Joemusashi|22:07, 1 July 2019‎ (UTC)}}

A couple things you should know: when uploading a file, please make sure the extension is lowercase (for example, .jpg instead of .JPG) as it is a wiki policy. (A complete list of Zelda Wiki's policies are located at [[Zelda Wiki:Quality Standards]], for your reference.) Also, in case you aren't already using them, the "show preview" and "show changes" buttons next to the "save page" button can help you spot mistakes before submitting an edit. That way you don't have to make lots of additional fixing edits after the fact.
:Hi, the official Player's Guide was written with the help of Miyamoto himself, so that's the closest thing we can get to the way the developers intented for the game to be played, especially since it was written like a story. About the official website, Zelda.com used to have a guide for each game but sadly got removed when the site got a new layout, although you can still find the archived guide [http://web.archive.org/web/20160303230647/http://zelda.com/universe/game/ocarinatime/walk.jsp here]. Personally, I highly doubt that the intended way to fight Dark Link is to spam the B button for several minutes straight.

If you have any questions or concerns please let me know. The [[Zelda Wiki:staff|staff]] is here to help.
:When writing articles please refer to our [[Zelda Wiki:Quality Standards#Article Style|style guide]] as they are meant to be written in-game, avoiding the use of "you", "the player", etc. Also, please make sure to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>). {{:User:Chuck/sig}} 21:40, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

See you around the wiki. :) {{:User:Hylian King/sig}} 07:10, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Sorry about not using tildes, I've got it now though. Yes you are completely correct, which is why I am now completely baffled, I want to be able to contact Miyamoto to ask him personally but I highly doubt I'll get a reply even if I managed to somehow contact him. Twitter was probably my best bet but apparently he's not on there. Maybe Nintendo twitter? I just want to put myself out of misery at this point. Anyway this will probably be my last message and thank you for your time and patience! [[User:Joemusashi|Joemusashi]] ([[User talk:Joemusashi|talk]]) 14:39, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

:Hello! Thanks for your comment :) About those things, the extension in caps was a mistake that I noticed after uploading the file, sorry :p I do use those features but most of those changes come to my mind after updating the page, but I'll try my best to get them before so I only edit the page once :) | [[User:Chuck|Chuck]] ([[User talk:Chuck|talk]]) 07:57, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
== Translation pages, contact a staff member? ==
Hello, (first of all, sorry if this isn't the right section to ask this question). I wanted to add some names in Italian from "Link's Awakening", like I did for other games, but the translation tables say: "This table was generated using translation pages. To request an addition, please contact a staff member with a reference". So, how can I add those names or send them to staff members to add them? Thank you! {{Unsigned|Legahyrule|09:01, 22 September 2019 (UTC)}}
:Hi, in order to add a name you need a source for it, like an in-game screenshot, for example. I would suggest joining the <span class="plainlinks">[https://discord.gg/eJnnvYb wiki's Discord]</span> so it's easier for you to do so. Also, please don't forget to sign your posts with four tildes (<code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code>). {{:User:Chuck/sig}} 04:16, 24 September 2019 (UTC)

Why was my talk page on thunderblight ganon deleted for spam? Spam would be repeating the same word over, a single letter message or unneeded long messages, the only thing i can think of the deletion was because it doesnt have context {{Unsigned|Thesnivelife|02:57, 2 December 2019 (UTC)}}

== HW:AoC Name Translation ==
Hello, apologies if this is the wrong place to ask for this, but could you add to the translation page of {{HWAoC}} its name in LatAM Spanish? [https://www.nintendo.com/es_LA/games/detail/hyrule-warriors-age-of-calamity-switch/ Here] is a source. I hope that this is enough, the game title is identical to that of the English version, so it hopefully shouldn't be much of a problem to add. Hello, I joined about at least a week ago and ben working on the wiki and one day, I found a glitches page for [[The_Legend_of_Zelda:_A_Link_Between_Worlds|A link Between Worlds]], which is one of my favorite Zelda games, and looked at the glitches that need expiation and I went ahead and found out one of them! If you want to know how it's done, just check the talk page in the glitches page for A Link Between Worlds. [[User:Xavier125|Xavier]] ([[User talk:Xavier125|talk]]) 11:50, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

:One more thing: there's really no need to be changing links like '''<nowiki>[[Skull Necklace]]s</nowiki>''' into '''<nowiki>[[Skull Necklace|Skull Necklaces]]</nowiki>'''. The former is more efficient and works just as well; the "s" is automatically absorbed into the link.

== Dungeon pages have the Places category in them ==

Hey Chuck. I was wondering about the practice of putting the Places category at the bottom of the pages of dungeons. I noticed games like A Link to the Past, A Link Between Worlds and others leaving that category out and only having the Dungeons category. The dungeons of Twilight Princess I've looked through so far have the Places in Twilight Princess category at the bottom. So I'm wondering if that category should be removed from those pages to make it consistent with the others. Any insight would be appreciated [[User:Wtc4ever|Wtc4ever]] ([[User talk:Wtc4ever|talk]]) 01:26, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
:You'll have to ask an admin about that as I'm not really sure it those categories should be left or removed. [[User:Pakkun|Pakkun]] seems to be around right now, so I guess he's your best bet. [[User:Chuck|Chuck]] ([[User talk:Chuck|talk]]) 02:06, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

::The Dungeons category is a subcategory of the Places category. "Places in (X game)" should be added to relevant places or dungeons that appear in said game, but obviously not every article reflects this.
::To answer your question: according to the Dungeons category page, dungeon pages should not have the regular "Places" category added to it. "Places in ''X''" is fine, I believe. It's also a subcategory of the Places category, but I don't believe it would make anything redundant.
::Hope that clears things up. {{:User:Pakkun/sig}} 02:21, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Four Swords artwork

So I'd like to do some Image Alteration work on those Four Swords images you've recently uploaded. I noticed that some of them, like the Bow for instance, have faint outlines in the black part, which is a good thing for making edits. Also to stagger him by alternating vertical and horizontal strikes could be about mastering the training at Kokiri village and relates to the "conquer yourself" hint that Navi gives you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joemusashi 22:07, 1 July 2019‎ (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, the official Player's Guide was written with the help of Miyamoto himself, so that's the closest thing we can get to the way the developers intented for the game to be played, especially since it was written like a story. About the official website, Zelda.com used to have a guide for each game but sadly got removed when the site got a new layout, although you can still find the archived guide here. Personally, I highly doubt that the intended way to fight Dark Link is to spam the B button for several minutes straight.
When writing articles please refer to our style guide as they are meant to be written in-game, avoiding the use of "you", "the player", etc. Also, please make sure to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). - Chuck * (Talk) 21:40, 1 July 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Joemusashi (talk) 14:39, 2 July 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Translation pages, contact a staff member?

Hello, (first of all, sorry if this isn't the right section to ask this question). I wanted to add some names in Italian from "Link's Awakening", like I did for other games, but the translation tables say: "This table was generated using translation pages. To request an addition, please contact a staff member with a reference". So, how can I add those names or send them to staff members to add them? Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Legahyrule (talk) 09:01, 22 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, in order to add a name you need a source for it, like an in-game screenshot, for example. I would suggest joining the wiki's Discord so it's easier for you to do so. Also, please don't forget to sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~). - Chuck * (Talk) 04:16, 24 September 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Deletion

Why was my talk page on thunderblight ganon deleted for spam? Spam would be repeating the same word over, a single letter message or unneeded long messages, the only thing i can think of the deletion was because it doesnt have context —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thesnivelife 02:57, 2 December 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

HW:AoC Name Translation

Hello, apologies if this is the wrong place to ask for this, but could you add to the translation page of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity its name in LatAM Spanish? Here is a source. I hope that this is enough, the game title is identical to that of the English version, so it hopefully shouldn't be much of a problem to add. Thanks again, AlternateRT (talk) 22:01, 9 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Oh and here is another source just in case. It is a video posted by the offical instagram account for Nintendo of Latinoamerica. AlternateRT (talk) 22:04, 9 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I just added the name. Thanks for the heads up! - Chuck * (Talk) 05:09, 11 September 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Breath of the Wild French Translations

I want to help the wiki and add some European French Translations for Breath of the Wild. Now, I know that these pages are locked to prevent editing but I still wanted to know if there is a way for me to add the translations. Shimyku78 (talk) 09:39, 02 October 2019 (UTC)Reply[reply]

As stated in nomenclature sections, you'll need a proper reference first in order for them to be added. Chuck (talk) 04:16, 8 October 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Glitch found out!

Hello, I joined about at least a week ago and ben working on the wiki and one day, I found a glitches page for A link Between Worlds, which is one of my favorite Zelda games, and looked at the glitches that need expiation and I went ahead and found out one of them! If you want to know how it's done, just check the talk page in the glitches page for A Link Between Worlds. Xavier (talk) 11:50, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

World of Nintendo

Hestu

I need to call attention to my talk page post here. I have been able to determine what Hestu's Japanese name is, but need the help of an admin to put it into the respective article. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the Internets go! :3 22:48, 11 June 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

There's no need to have the same conversation in two different places. If you have a proper source for the name, you can share it in our Discord so it can be added to its respective page. Chuck (talk) 03:27, 13 June 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Zelda's name is missing from Hyrule Warriors weapon listing and Wind Waker links to the game article rather than the item article

Link here. I tried fixing the problem myself I had no luck, so could you do it?, also when I clicked on the wind waker link on the listing, it took me to the game article rather then the item article, I have no idea to fix it myself so could you also do that? Both issues were solved by the staff. Thanks for the heads up! - Chuck * (Talk) 04:57, 3 November 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
