Welcome back!
Heya Link Lab, welcome back to the fold! It's good to see you around the wiki again. :) PhantomCaleb (talk) 18:18, 4 November 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Caleb, thanks! Good to be back. By the way, you're doing an amazing job with the visual and coding overhaul. — Link Lab (Talk) 17:04, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you! It just so happens that your reply helped me identify a few more broken visuals. 🙂 PhantomCaleb (talk) 17:32, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
...By the way, have you considered re-joining the Discord server? 🙂 PhantomCaleb (talk) 19:14, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
HWL saved game status?
Hoy! I was just checking some galleries and saw that you uploaded some Hyrule Warriors Legends models a few years back, such as File:HWL Linkle Grand Travels Standard Outfit Model.png.
For a while now, I have been hoping to capture some of those models in higher resolution, but it seems in order to view them in the character gallery, you need to complete all sorts of Adventure Mode missions. Well, I don't have consistent enough access to the game to complete Adventure Mode, nor even to acquire the necessary skills. So, three quick questions!
- Did you capture those model images yourself?
- (If yes,) Have you completed a decent amount of Adventure Mode to access all or most of them?
- (If yes,) Do you have a way of extracting and sharing your saved game?
Pls let me know where things stand! But if there are any snags, that's totally fine, just thought I'd ask. Htwretched (talk) 05:49, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
- Yo! So, to answer the questions, yes, yes (100% completion, iirc), not sure. But if I do, it's worth noting that it was on a EUR cartridge. Not sure if that affects the save data's compatibility. — Link Lab (Talk) 09:29, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
SoulCalibur II fixes
Just wanted to give you a shout-out for fixing a ton of the SoulCalibur II categories and game abbreviations. I was the one who changed its spelling from Soulcalibur II after checking a number of official sources to verify the spelling, moved the main pages, fixed the templates and Data:Franchise, but I am very unfamiliar with how categories are handled (they seem to be a combination of automated and manually maintained) and I didn't receive much help with the process.
I'm concerned there may still be plenty of pages that use "Soulcalibur II" instead of "SCII" in their infobox and category templates, and I'd like to help rectify that, but don't know how to go about finding any instances. In the meantime, I could probably grab some new images for some of those articles needing attention. Htwretched (talk) 08:50, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
- I believe I got all of the instances of "Soulcalibur II" in templates where it now expects "SCII". The templates like Cite, Categories and Infobox are set up to automatically add pages to the invalid arguments category when they get get a game that doesn't match anything in Data:Franchise (at time of writing, there is 2 pages in that category but neither involve SCII). I think the Categories using the Category Header template would've got added to the script error category but I didn't check before I fixed them. — Link Lab (Talk) 10:59, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
Power Glove files
Hello! I moved this and this file to make room for the icons of the actual weapons. Similar item card-weapon overlap does the same, is that incorrect? Mc-Gem (talk) 22:39, 21 August 2024 (UTC) Mc-Gem (talk) 22:39, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- oooh wait i see the problem now, my bad! sorry sorry Mc-Gem (talk) 23:18, 21 August 2024 (UTC) Mc-Gem (talk) 23:18, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
- No worries! Hyrule Warriors is a bit of a pain with overlapping subjects and/or terms so it's easy to miss that, in this case, the Weapon is always plural while the Item Card is singular. It probably needs a workaround for Term storage. Also, I think if you're using the new(ish?) reply feature, you don't need to sign your posts as it does it automatically (hence your double signatures above). — Link Lab (Talk) 07:24, 22 August 2024 (UTC)
Quick thanks and sorry
Hey there, thanks for taking care of this. I know it's pretty standard stuff, but I feel foolish about copy-and-pasting the same changes for 8 files and not even noticing that I forgot half of the changes! Htwretched (talk) 06:59, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
- No worries, it happens. With a small number of quick edits like that, it's easy to miss if you don't catch it on the first edit. — Link Lab (Talk) 22:22, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
I'm hijacking this topic because its title is what a new one would have been. So obviously I had brain-moment when I said that the wiki font has serifs, but the thing is, the letter "I" does, at least for me. I placed a screenshot on Discord showing that, and others responded with their own sans-serif (but otherwise identical) screenshots. As far as I know, there are no custom fonts or extensions on my Firefox. I checked another laptop in the household and it showed a serif "I" as well. Anyway, I'm not pitching to have that (spelt DethI) removed, just explaining this strange situation. Htwretched (talk) 23:44, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
- Oh, that's odd. I would guess it's down to the font being pulled as "system-ui" as that's the only font in the wiki's font family that could have serifs if none of your fonts are customised. — Link Lab (Talk) 09:17, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
Nintendo Music thumbnail sources
This is probably not important at all, but a lot of the prior Nintendo Music thumbnails have file sources that link directly to the image, since they came from an image database Google Doc, and I don't actually have access to the app in order to get those "share" URLs with the image and QR code. If you think it's better to link to a page than directly to a ~1 MB image, well, that's something to consider. Thanks for your help today with those tracklists! Htwretched (talk) 07:56, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
- On a related note: I just noticed some of the thumbnails you added have JPG compression. I only checked a few though. If you view the images on those "share" pages, try appending
?im=ato the URL, and that will clean them right up. I will reupload the TotK playlist thumbnails (Battles, Dungeons, etc.) for now, and maybe others later. Htwretched (talk) 08:13, 4 June 2025 (UTC)- Strange, when I look at the files with
?im=aappended (eg. when I click the link on the prior thumbnails), I get taken to a "Bad Request" JSON page and I can't view the image until I remove?im=afrom the URL. - Later in the week or maybe the weekend, I'll look into getting the rest of the sources cleaned up. I'll also make sure the pages are saved on the web archive, given that there's already been at least two playlists that changed thumbnail. Unfortunately, those weren't on the archive before, so I can't get a proper link to the old version of those share pages. — Link Lab (Talk) 11:05, 4 June 2025 (UTC)
