The Wind Fish's Egg is the gigantic egg of Mt. Tamaranch in Link's Awakening, and is where the Wind Fish is said to be sleeping in. Near Gopanga Swamp, Link can climb up a fleet of stairs to where the egg sits, but he won't be able to interact with it until he has gotten all eight of the Eight Instruments of the Siren. The egg is white with several pink spots, it can also be seen for miles. A beam of light and a cloudy ring surrounding the egg is also commonly seen.

Template:Spoiler The Wind Fish's Egg is also the final dungeon and Link's final destination in Link's Awakening. Shortly after getting the final instrument, the mysterious Owl will direct Link to the egg. By using his ocarina, Link played the Ballad of the Wind Fish along with the other instruments. When the song ended, an entrance suddenly cracked open, allowing Link to go inside the egg. The inside of the egg is rather mysterious, as the inside is in the form of a common dungeon.

There is also an endless maze inside the egg. There are four possible directions, and each are randomly set whenever a new game is set. However by obtaining the Magnifying Glass from the game's Trading Sequence, Link will be able to read a book inside the library in Mabe Village, which will reveal the directions that Link must take. Since the possible maze directions can easily be found on the internet, it is possible to successfully navigate the egg without even having the Magnifying Glass in Link's possession.

After successfully clearing the maze, Link will come upon a pit. By dropping down, he will encounter the final boss and the last of the Nightmares. Once they have been defeated, a stairway will appear and will lead Link to The Wind Fish's room, where the Owl and the Wind Fish await him.

After successfully navigating the rooms, Link will come to pit that will drop him into the arean to fight his final enemy, Nightmare.
