Lord Raven is the head of of Queen Ambi's knights in the Oracle of Ages manga, and is an ancestor of Link. When not in the services of Queen Ambi, Lord Raven lives in a hidden village which has come to oppose Queen Ambi, who has been corrupted by Veran's evil influence.
Lord Raven is a capable swordsman, besting Link quite easily in battle, and despite his air of mystery, is a kind-hearted individual, and would not perform a task that put needless lives at risk.
