However, when Link is an adult and he climbs up on one of the roofs in Kakariko a man seems to have a small facial resemblence to the Guard. This may be true beacause both of them appear to have the same lower face, as the Guard has an armet covering his upper face. It could be that he retired during Link's dissapearence. But this is my opinion.

Template:Character The Death Mountain Trail Guard is the guard at the gate to the Death Mountain Trail in Ocarina of Time.

Biography

He is one of the three Hyrulean Soldiers assigned to guarding Kakariko Village; the other two (at the entrance to the village and near Impa's house) are the ones who tell Link what the in-game time is.

Link must give Zelda's Letter to the Death Mountain Trail Guard, after that, the guard will open the gate and anyone can pass.[1] If Link talks to the guard before buying the Hylian Shield, he can get a discount on it and buy the shield for just 50 Rupees at the Bazaar.[2]

His son asked him to get a Keaton Mask.[3][4] The guard buys the one that Link obtains in the Happy Mask Shop for 15 Rupees,[5] and then will be seen wearing it. If Link refuses to give him the mask, the guard will close the gate until Link sells him the mask. If Link leaves the village or enters and exits a building, the gate will also be open again. Seven years later, when the castle town is destroyed, the Death Mountain Trail Guard can't be found anywhere.
