Down Thrust

Originally seen in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, the Downward Thrust was a sword attack taught to Link by a Hylian Knight in Mido Town. It was performed by Link by jumping into the air, positioning his sword underneath him pointing downwards, and landing on enemies sword-first to stab them from above.
This skill also appears in The Minish Cap, where it was a Tiger Scroll technique learned from Swiftblade. It now requires use of the Roc's Cape, as it is this item which allows Link to jump.
Trivia
- Nearly-identical moves appear in Soul Calibur II and the Super Smash Bros. Series, possibly as references to its original appearance in Zelda II.
- The Ending Blow taught by the Hero's Spirit in Twilight Princess works similarly, but is only used on enemies that are knocked down.
- Some believe that in A Link to the Past, Link performs this move to use the Quake Medallion.
