Linkle is a playable character in Hyrule Warriors Legends. She was announced as a playable character in Hyrule Warriors Legends during the Nintendo Direct on November 12, 2015 with a new design and two crossbows instead of one.

Linkle fights using a pair of crossbows. She is a very athletic character, and is able to attack her enemies with fast kicks and quick reflexes.

Development

Her concept was made during the development of Hyrule Warriors, where she was originally conceived to be a female version of Link and was to be like a little sister to him,[1] but the idea was scrapped with hesitation from the development team.[citation needed] After the game's release, sketches of her concept were included in the boxed editions' visual databook and she escalated into popularity within a portion of the Zelda fandom. Despite being incomplete at the time, she was one of the popularly requested characters in the open call for playable candidates posted onto the game's Twitter[2].

Trivia

  • Prior to her announcement, her crossbow was hidden among stock art of other characters in the previous two trailers, hinting at her inclusion.
  • Her compass is available as merchandise in one of the Japanese and European limited edition releases of Hyrule Warriors Legends. This mirrors Link's scarf, which was available as merchandise in the Japanese and European limited edition of Hyrule Warriors.
  • Her concept art is similar to Link's artwork in Link's Crossbow Training.
