Biography

Link first encounters Pokki after discovering the Misae Suma Shrine in the East Barrens. He cannot enter the Shrine because Pokki is collapsed over the slot where Link must place his Sheikah Slate to open the door. By speaking to Pokki, Link finds out that she is dying of thirst and only a drink called Noble Pursuit will save her.[1] This gives Link "The Perfect Drink" Shrine Quest and he cannot enter the Shrine until he finishes the Quest. When Link tells Pokki that there is a Noble Pursuit waiting for her in Gerudo Town, she stands up without hesitation and says she's leaving before running away toward town.[2] After the Quest, Pokki can be found inside The Noble Canteen talking to the bartender Furosa about Noble Pursuit.[3]

Etymology

The name Po is a variation of Poe,[4] which means "pearl" in Tahitian.[5] Ki is the Japanese kun reading of sheng,[6] Chinese for "fresh" and "living".[7]
