The Acheman is a vampire-like bat-demon that is part of the monster horde that seek Ganon's resurrection in The Adventure of Link. Although they do not disguise themselves as Hyruleans like Aches, they have a far more dangerous transformation.

Hanging from the ceilings of their abode, they may resemble an Ache at first glance, albeit a deep red one. When it senses an intruder nearby it will swoop down like an Ache. However, when the Acheman touches ground, it transforms into a winged devil that spits fire at intruders. After a few volleys of fire, the Acheman will retreat into bat form and return to the ceiling. The Acheman is significantly stronger than its Ache relatives, but can still be killed with Link's blade.

Trivia

  • Achemen are very similar to Vire, and appear to be the Ache equivalent.
  • Ganon is also shown with the ability to transform to and from a bat.
  • The Acheman is possibly a reference to the Devil from Devil World, a 1984 NES game designed by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takeshi Tezuka. In addition to the similar appearance, the same fireball sound effect and sprite was reused.[1]
