Names in different languages for SS characters

Hey, just wanted to say that you are doing an amazing job at listing the Spanish names for all the SS characters. It takes a lot of effort to find these names if you don't own a Spanish Copy of the game. So keep up the great work! XXSuperXXNintendoXx 21:29, 29 December 2011 (EST)

Well, it helps that the USA copies are trilingual and can have the language switched by switching the language on the Wii Menu. USA copies of Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks are similarly trilingual; set language on the DS menu to English, French, or Spanish and you can switch the in-game language...--Shiningpikablu252 21:32, 29 December 2011 (EST)

I never knew that(probably because I don't dare to change the language settings), guess you learn something new everyday :) XXSuperXXNintendoXx 21:34, 29 December 2011 (EST)

Just for the record, the Skyward Sword manual actually shows how to play the game in the different languages. Each language section has a shot of the Wii Menu's language selection screen with the matching language highlighted. Granted that language selection is on the third screen of choices under the Wii Settings (and Wii Settings is one screen removed from the base Wii Menu), it's not as easy as the manual might imply...--Shiningpikablu252 21:37, 29 December 2011 (EST)

Nice to see you

Just wanted to say that it's nice to see you here. May not be obvious, but I'm also Rai Marshall at Bulbapedia. :P Anyhow, nice to see you. Makes me feel glad that ZW is getting some good help after how nearly everyone left. -Sigh- The Goron Moron 22:51, 2 January 2012 (EST)

Spirit Tracks Translations

Hey, I noticed you've been doing work on ST translations. Just thought you should know I've actually been working on dumping the text for that game. Sadly, I don't have the Japanese text and haven't been able to work all the different languages into a table yet, but other than that it has about everything, including a chunk of text that the people at Zelda Legends missed. Would you be interested in having it? — Hylian King [*] 23:34, 3 July 2012 (EDT)

Sorry, the resources I'm using are the actual USA copy game and the existing, infamously mislabeled text dump in question (Zelda Legends labels the text dump as European, but if one were to search key terms, they'd come up as their USA versions, i.e. Byrne rather than Staven in English, Alfonzo rather than Gasto in French, Aldea Papuchia rather than Canalias in Spanish).
Actually, the fact that there's a Spirit Tracks USA copy text dump for French and Spanish is actually making things a bit easier--there's no text dump other than English currently for Skyward Sword, and of the three dumps Zelda Legends is currently missing for Phantom Hourglass, two of them just happen to be French and Spanish from the USA copy (they're also missing a Korean dump), hence the game itself is all I had to work with for Skyward Sword and Phantom Hourglass...--Shiningpikablu252 23:46, 3 July 2012 (EDT)
Alright, well if ever you want a much better text dump to work with (that has all the European versions as well), just holler. :P — Hylian King [*] 08:41, 4 July 2012 (EDT)

Featured article voting

Hey, so Mandi brought up a good point here about our Featured Article and Image voting systems. I personally would like to see a change, but that just won't happen if no one says anything or voices their opinion. I'm asking you to please voice your opinion on changing the system so we can move forwards with proposing actual changes and actually GET somewhere with this. Please and thank you!User:Justin ZW/sig 20:48, 6 December 2012 (UTC)

You're a hero

...for helping out with the new Template:Names, and relentlessly adding translations since you joined. Just sayin'. — Hylian King [*] 19:43, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hylian King took the words right out of my mouth. One thing I noticed is that sometimes you stretch the translation table (example). In these cases, you should consider using <br/> tags and format 3 of Template:Romanize. Also, when dealing with multiple names or translations, it might be better to use Template:Names Table. Anyway, keep up the good work. — Abdul [T] [C] [S]  10:24, 26 December 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sup, dude?

Bro. I have a question for you. I know you're on the Bulbapedia staff, but you don't seem to be very active over there, and you've had a pretty high activity level over here. So my question to you is: would you like to join our staff as a patroller? We could use more staff since we recently removed all the inactives. Also, we love seeing worthy editors receive the rewards they deserve :P
If you're interested, I'll go ahead and rank you up. If not, then forget I said anything and continue as you were.User:Justin ZW/sig 18:19, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

Hey, bro. It's been awhile since I posted this message, so I just wanted to follow up and make sure you weren't interested. If you would like the position, I need to know ASAP. I would appreciate a response one way or the other, just to know for sure.User:Justin ZW/sig 04:32, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
...Count me in. -Shiningpikablu252 04:47, 5 March 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Alrighty! You've been promoted and all the works. You're invited to join our staff chats on Skype and to participate in our top secret staff forum where we discuss our illuminadi-style control of the wiki and plot out how to better monitor the information.
That was entirely a joke, but we do have a staff forum where we discuss promotions and such. If you just make an account on Zelda Universe, we can give you access.User:Justin ZW/sig 23:00, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Staff boards

Howdy, Pika. Just wanted to ask you to please create an account on the Zelda Universe forums so you can participate in staff discussions. It's important that our active staff be involved in the goings on of the site, and we have a great deal of patrollers who do not actively participate. Once you make an account, let me know and we'll have someone with the proper ability place you in the Zelda Wiki group so you can see our staff section. Thanks!User:Justin ZW/sig 23:53, 13 June 2013 (UTC)

Translation Pages

Hey, thanks for lending a hand on the Translation pages. - TonyT S C 06:21, 11 July 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Low quality image requests

Please do not request a replacement if the images are in HQ on any size like widescreen or other aspect ratios as low quality please. The visual quality is higher and fine as it is, but I only have up to 1366x768 resolution and cannot get any higher. It seems to me you need a newer computer or something like that to see much better or it maybe because of the monitor color display you need to adjust for a better result.--Brandondorf9999 (talk) 21:11, 20 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The reason I posted those images on the requests board in the first place is because they were 16:9 aspect ratio images of games that are natively in 4:3 and only in 4:3. If those images were 4:3, they would not have been posted.
The only home console games with any relation to Zelda that support 16:9 are those released on the Wii and the Wii U (Skyward Sword takes it a step further and supports only 16:9). Gamecube games with relevance to this board only support 4:3 natively (note that SSBM and all Zelda games in this list have a "no" in the 16:9 column--note that only the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess lacks 16:9 support, as the Wii version does support it)--any screenshot of any Gamecube game not in the linked list depicted in 16:9 must be either stretched or widescreen-hacked.
Also, I notice you've got quite a history of handling "high-quality 16:9 screenshots" of games that only support 4:3. I suggest taking what I've written here to heart while you've still got the chance--one wrong move might be your last...--Shiningpikablu252 (talk) 21:28, 20 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The reason you are thinking that has pixelations is because of widescreen. Also, Gamecube games are in 4:3 by original TV unless you use swiss for the wii system and then you may get a perfect widescreen display. The reason I use dolphin because that kind of helps me get a better display than normal 4:3 ones. Gamecube screenshots need to be upgraded into 16:9 since their sites images are getting more modern than ever. You may crop them to 4:3 if you wish.--Brandondorf9999 (talk) 21:32, 20 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You slew that beast pretty much single-handedly. Zelda Wiki is forever in your debt! ;) — Hylian King [*] 05:22, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yep. Didn't do it perfectly, but then again I wasn't expecting outright perfection when I embarked on the task (I even missed a straggler!)...--Shiningpikablu252 (talk) 05:25, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
99.99% accuracy is pretty darn good though. :P I only caught Moink using the admin tool ReplaceText. (In some ways, its search feature is better than the regular wiki search function. It's a shame they don't at least make the search part of it available to everyone...) — Hylian King [*] 05:51, 1 February 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
