Link is stuck spring cleaning

It is the first day of spring in Hyrule,[1] and while Link hopes to use the fair weather as an excuse to get romantic with Princess Zelda,[2] she insists that it is time for spring cleaning.[3] She hands him and mop and tells him to get to work.[4] Link is annoyed by this, and pretends to have a cold in order to get out of spring cleaning.[5] Spryte takes pity on him when he pretends to be sick and tells him to rest.[6]

Meanwhile, a Moby attacks while Zelda is inspecting Link's messy room. She shoves its nose into Link's pile of dirty laundry and it is so disgusted by the smell that it flies away.[7] Link arrives and tries to steal a kiss from Zelda again as she is resting on his bed,[8] while Spryte tries to convince Zelda that he is sick and needs rest.[9] Even though she thinks that Link's illness is not genuine, she relents and allows him to stay in bed.[10] The Moby overhears this and brings the news back to Ganon that Link is sick and that the castle is spring cleaning. Ganon summons a Lowder from the Evil Jar to take him to the castle so that he can steal the Triforce of Wisdom while Link is incapacitated.[11] He spies Spryte inside North Castle trying to do Link's work and casts a spell on her.[12] The spell gives Spryte extra energy so that she will be hyperactive and act as a distraction while Ganon steals the Triforce.[13]

The mops attack Link

Spryte goes to see Link and brings him an orange to help him feel better,[14] but Link throws it away after the fairy leaves and decides to keep playing sick until the cleaning is all done.[15] Later, Zelda orders Spryte to make the bed, wash the floors, and dust.[16] She attempts to use magic to do the chores, but the spell cast by Ganon causes her magic to go haywire and create chaos.[17] The mops and buckets begin to attack Link, Zelda, and Spryte, so Zelda grabs Link's magic Bow and Boomerang and fights the cleaning supplies. When they are all defeated, the heroes are shocked to learn that Ganon had stolen the Triforce in the confusion.[18]

Giving swift chase, they follow Ganon deep into the Underworld, with Spryte following right behind them since she feels guilty for the recent events.[19] They stumble upon a trap door and land right into a glass container which cannot be destroyed by Link's sword beams.[20] He releases a Gohma to eat the heroes, but Spryte arrives in time and shoots a powerful bolt of energy at the Gohma, allowing Link to escape.[21] Ganon then shoots fire at Link, which the young hero evades just in time and causes the fire to hit Gohma instead, instantly defeating it. After Spryte frees Zelda by using her magic to destroy the container,[22] the princess fires an arrow from her bow at Ganon, who in his attempt to shoot her with his magic, accidentally hits the ceiling of the underworld. This causes Ganon's lair to begin to collapse, and although Zelda tries to grab the Triforce of Power as well before escaping,[23] Link tells her there is no time and is able to get Zelda with the Triforce of Wisdom out of the Underworld.[24] Back at North Castle, Zelda reminds Link that it is still spring cleaning time, and he along with Spryte try to fake a cold.[25] This time, however, Zelda does not give in to their excuse.[26]
