Cranioc

From Zelda Wiki, the Zelda encyclopedia

Craniocs are enemies that appear in Skyward Sword.

Characteristics and Weaknesses

Craniocs inhabit aquatic environments, such as Lake Floria, Lanayru Sand Sea and the Flooded Faron Woods. In his assault on Lake Floria, Ghirahim commanded the Craniocs to attack the Water Dragon Faron and the local Parella.[1][2] While she was distracted, Ghirahim had attacked and mortally wounded her.[3]

Their heads bear large, bulbous crowns, which they use to attack prey and settle disputes between others of their species by tackling one another. If a Cranioc spots Link, it will turn red and charge at the young hero. To defeat them, Link must spin into them, which will cause them to be stunned and flip over, exposing their scarred underbellies. After this, Link only needs to charge into them once more to kill them.

Craniocs in Lanayru Sand Sea can be shot with Skipper's Cannon.

Etymology

Cranioc is derived from cranium, referring to their large heads.

My lady the Water Dragon is a fierce fighter, and, boy, did she gobble up most of those monsters in the first few seconds. Thing is, there were just so many of them! While she was distracted, the weirdo leading all those creatures managed to wound her!" — [[Parella]] (Skyward Sword)
