Dinolfos are the stronger relatives of Lizalfos and are similar in appearance but are larger with more violent-looking features, bodies covered in spines, and heavier black armor. They attack with swords and fire breath. In Majora's Mask they are called Dinofols and in Twilight Princess they are called Dynalfos.
Appearances
Ocarina of Time
Dinolfos first appeared in Ocarina of Time in Ganon's Castle and the Gerudo's Training Ground. They can be easily defeated by using the shield and quickly attacking it with the sword when it lets its guard down.
Majora's Mask
In Majora's Mask, their names were spelled Dinofols. One first appeared as a miniboss of the Woodfall Temple, where Link must defeat it to receive the Hero's Bow. They are slightly different as they use a different weapon, wear different armor, and are able to breathe fire. They are also slightly weaker.
Dinofols would also appear at:
- Snowhead Temple
- Ikana Canyon, in the Secret Shrine, where Link must face three Dinofols at the same time.
- The Moon
Twilight Princess
They appear again in Twilight Princess, this time spelled Dynalfos. They are far stronger than their cousins, the Lizalfos. They are larger, more powerful and have more armor. The way to beat them is by counterattacking, continually using the Shield Attack on them then doing a Helm Splitter about three or four times. A simpler method is to just shoot them with a Bomb Arrow. However, Bomb Arrows only work if they have not spotted Link.
It is very hard to perform the Ending Blow to Dynalfos, because they immediately jump back up when knocked down, but it can be done, if Link is fast enough. Link can also use the Ball and Chain to get through its shield, then hack away.
