Camo Goblins are enemies in Link's Awakening DX.[1] They appear exclusively in the Color Dungeon. Their appearance, behavior and Japanese name are based on the Boo Blah enemies from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

Characteristics

Camo Goblins appear only in the Color Dungeon. Like the Boo Blahs of the Mario series, they are initially small and close to the ground, but when Link comes near, they quickly follow after him and attack by rising up and stretching their arms out. Camo Goblins come in three colors: red, green and blue. Red and green ones are the most common, while the blue kind moves faster and is able to pop up quicker. When they are to the ground, they are able to camouflage themselves against the colored tiles of the dungeon floor. While they will try to sneak up to Link and attack, this also leaves them exposed, and a single Sword strike is enough to defeat them.

Nomenclature

The Japanese name of the Camo Goblin, ビヨーンおばけ (Biyōn Obake), is the same as that of Boo Blahs in the Mario series, although Boo Blah's name is written fully in Hiragana: びよーんおばけ (Biyōn Obake). Biyōn is onomatopoeia representing the sound of stretching.
