The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

File:Item-18.gif

The Hookshot is one of the items that Link must acquire in Ocarina of Time, given to him by the deceased Dampe the Gravekeeper. It is the prize if Link wins a race that Dampe challenges him to. He found it while digging for treasure in his graveyard. The Hookshot can be used to help Link from one place to another, as long as the place the Hookshot "hooks" onto is wooden. It can attach to trees, boxes, logs, etc. It can also make enemies stop still in their tracks, leaving them open to repeated attacks. Link will need to use the Hookshot to get himself past many obstacles, until he acquires the even better Longshot.
