The Magic Jar is an item that appears commonly in all of the games after Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

They are used to replenish Magic Power, which is used to power magic items, magic attacks and magic powers. They are most commonly found by breaking jars, cutting grass or killing enemies. The jars come in various shapes and sizes depending on the game.

In Game Appearances

Adventure of Link

There are two types of Magic Jars here, blue and red. The blue jar refills one segment of the Magic Meter while the red jar refills the entire bar. They were known simply as jars (ツボ) in the Japanese.

A Link to the Past

Ocarina of Time

They can be large and small. A large decanter, known as a Magic Jar, completely refills the Magic Meter and a small one, refered to as a Magic Potion, restores it by one eighth.

Majora's Mask

Same as before they can be large and small. A Magic Jar completely refills the Magic Meter and a small Magic Potion restores it by one eighth.

Wind Waker

The Wind Waker repeats the two-bottle tradition, but with slight changes. The large decanter still refills a sizeable portion of the Magic Meter, but does not completely refill it. Both of the magic bottles change from their characteristic green color to tan bottles with brown designs.
