The Golden Sword, also known as the Master Sword Lv3, is a sword featured in A Link to the Past, Ancient Stone Tablets, and A Link Between Worlds. It is the ultimate upgrade to the Master Sword and thus the strongest weapon in the games it appears in.[1]
Appearances
A Link to the Past
In A Link to the Past, Link must throw the Tempered Sword into the Mysterious Pond of the Dark World within the Pyramid of Power, where the Fat Fairy will transform it into the Golden Sword. It has a golden blade and green hilt, and is eight times stronger than the Fighter's Sword. In the Game Boy Advance version of the game, it also has the ability to break jars (or skulls in the Dark World).
A Link Between Worlds
In A Link Between Worlds, this sword is called the Master Sword Lv3. It is obtained similarly to the Master Sword Lv2, with two pieces of Master Ore, but they must be taken to the Lorule Blacksmith.
Other Appearances
Ancient Stone Tablets
In Ancient Stone Tablets, this sword is renamed the LV4 Sword. When the Hero of Light draws the Master Sword from the Lost Woods, (s)he obtains it at this power level from the start, due to it being strengthened to this state by Link prior to the events of the game. The Golden Sword is seemingly the strongest variation of the Master Sword to yet appear in a Zelda game: it is the only sword which shoots Sword Beams and it is the only sword that is able to harm Ganon without using the Whirling Blade Technique. When obtained, the rental shops will no longer offer a higher level.
