Small Shield
The Small Shield is the basic shield used by Link throughout most of The Minish Cap. It is given to him by Princess Zelda in Hyrule Town at the Picori Festival. Shortly after receiving it, Link must use his newly-acquired shield to protect Zelda from a dangerous Business Scrub north of Hyrule Town.
Like most basic shields obtained throughout the Zelda series, the Small Shield can be swallowed by a Like Like. If this happens, Link can defeat the foe to retrieve his shield, or buy a new one at the Hyrule Town Shop. The Small Shield can defend Link from the most basic of attacks, such as Octoroks' rocks and sword strikes from other enemies. After the young hero completes the main quest, Link can trade in the Small Shield for the Mirror Shield.
The Small Shield has the same design as the Hero's Shield from The Wind Waker.
