To access the Toh Yahsa Shrine, the "Trial of Thunder" Shrine Quest must be completed by Link. The quest begins automatically once Link enters the Thundra Plateau. Link must complete the quest by placing four spheres found around the plateau into their corresponding placeholders.

When Link enters the Shrine, he is found standing on a platform in front of a bunch of destructible blocks. The blocks are in a rectangular shape two blocks tall, five blocks long, and three blocks wide, with a "T" shape hole at the end. If Link blows these blocks up, he can find a metallic box hidden underneath the blocks. Link can use this block to climb to the other side of the platform and climb a Ladder up to some more destructible blocks which hide another ladder. This ladder leads to a portcullis which blocks Link from the Monk. Underneath this ladder, blocked by more destructible blocks, is a Switch which Link can press down with the aforementioned metallic block to open the portcullis blocking the Monk. After opening the portcullis, the Monk will give Link a Spirit Orb.

There are two chests that can be found in this shrine. The first chest can be found on a platform to the right of Link when he enters the shrine. Link is able to use the metallic block to knock this chest onto the ground. This chest contains a Opal. The last chest is hidden behind a destructible wall right below the platform Link first enters on. If Link blows up the wall, he can find the Rubber Armor hidden in the chest.
