Location and Uses

The Mystery Item is one of three items that can be found after defeating the dark energy at the end of every level in a multiplayer game of Hyrulean Adventure, the other two being a big Force Gem and a Big Bomb. Its primary purpose is to hinder fellow Links in the collection of Force Gems and to boost the score of the thrower's own. This is done for the possibility of a higher place in the Hero Rankings held after the completion of stages in multiplayer mode. It is also found in all 5 Shadow Battle Stages in preset locations in the maps. In contrast to Hyrulean Adventure, Shadow Battle focuses on defeating rival Links and surviving for as long as possible. To reflect this, the Force Gem is substituted for a Carrot, which temporarily gives the player a damage-dealing Horse. The Cucco Steal additionally steals Hearts in Shadow Battle instead of Force Gems.
