== Re:Edit summaries ==
I just find it irritating when people go around deleting and changing things simply because they want things their way. When I posted those videos i was only trying to help, and when I was told videos <nowiki>'</nowiki>''weren't allowed''<nowiki>'</nowiki> on character galleries, i let it go. However when i noticed a video was posted in Zant's gallery, i figured perhaps they were wrong. So I put them back on the pretense that since videos were allowed in zants gallery, they could go in others. Then not only did they go and remove the videos from the other pages, but also from zants gallery, despite it being there for who knows how long. And even then, they never provided a proper explanation as to WHY it isn't allowed. They simply said it wasn't allowed, and went into no further details. Maybe I wouldn't have to resort to calling them names, if they just explained the situation too me. I can't stand control freaks like that, who think they can go in and change things and boss people around just because they hold some form of seniority over others. That is is both a form of power abuse and bullying, something I can not, and will not, stand for. If I see someone acting like a bully or an ass hole, I WILL call them out on it!<br>[[User:Ixbran|Ixbran]] ([[User talk:Ixbran|talk]]) 11:30, 1 July 2014 (UTC)

HOW TO REPORT A BUG

When reporting a bug to me, please provide the following information:

  • What you were doing immediately before the bug was discovered: This could be as simple as clicking a link. I need every specific detail, because debugging is very delicate.
  • What type of bug you are receiving: This could be a database error, some strange data appearing on the page, etc. Again, I need specific details.
  • FOR TECHIES ONLY: What you believe could be the cause of the error. If you have absolutely no idea what it is, don't guess.
  • A screenshot of the error: Screenshots speak louder than words. DO NOT THINK A SCREENSHOT IS AN AMPLE REPLACEMENT FOR THE ABOVE INFORMATION! I still need details to go with it, but sometimes seeing the error can help me replicate it and trace the source of the bug.
HI! Welcome!
This is my Talk Page. It's where you can communicate with me on the wiki. Feel free to bring forth your questions, ideas, suggestions, complaints, fan mail, hate mail, death threats, etc. Oh, and pony. Always pony. Especially Rainbow Dash (who, as we all know, is obviously the best pony).

There we are. Did some spring cleaning and archived everything again. Feel free to fill this page right back up!

I'm Chinese.There is a BIG BUG

Hello! I am a Chinese player. Maybe you do not know, Nintendo of China(known as iQue), Hong Kong and Taiwan have been offering Legend of Zelda games officially. As the American version and the English version are difference, Nintendo in Simplified Chinese (China) and Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong, Taiwan) offer versions are independent of each localization team, and its release date, place names, name of the game, Cover, websites are ALL different. Especially the 3DS, the situation is very complicated, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese are translated differently. THEY ARE ALL OFFICIAL GAMES, NOT PIRATED.

Note that both the Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese version, are the Nintendo approved authorized software, not pirated, so they have the right to appear in the wiki being.

However, the current site for the Chinese version of some of the settings is problematic.

In http://zeldawiki.org/Template:Names in China of the code is "CH", but I tried to use the "CH", the flag is the flag of Taiwan.

Please look at other games wiki sites, like Mariowiki \Bulbapedia , all have a Simplified Chinese (Chinese flag) and Traditional Chinese (Taiwan flag) versions of both languages.

Please note that I am not talking about political things, the game is without borders. But the fact is, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese are not a version . Translation differences are huge, and publishers, producers are different, you can not generally use ch instead.

Now Chinese players, has summed up many Chinese Games All names, places, translate name information, but the frustration on the website is only a "ch", and is a sign of Taiwan's flag, a great blow to the Chinese players to improve wiki enthusiasm.

Suggestions:

Establishment "ch" and "tw" two translations code,

"ch" for Simplified Chinese, using Chinese flag (PRC).

"tw" for Traditional Chinese ,using the flag of Taiwan (ROC).

Again, I'm not talking about politics, the reason is very simple, two versions of the translation, publishers, producers are not the same, and are authorized softwares.

I hope wiki can solve this problem there is a very long time, no one could previously proposed, but with the Chinese game offering more and more, and not like only one language is different from Korea, China and the two languages are officially recognized Chinese, hoping to distinguish wiki can order Chinese and Taiwanese players can improve the wiki.

Thank you!

Dark Plague

Hello there! I am a fairly new user, and I have been looking for pages to work on for the wiki that are either in need of repair or in need of making altogether. I noticed when reading the page about Hyrule that one of the event pages, the "Dark Plague," is one of the only ones that has not been created. I went to the page, and it said the page had been protected or deleted or something, and to contact you for assistance. I just finished up a page about the Ancient Battle and am collaborating with several others to put the finishing touches on it, but I have also been trying to look ahead and seek out another project to work on as it is completed. I thought this would be a good one to turn to since it is the only event on Hyrule's page to not have a page of its own. Can you un-protect it or would you like me to even attempt to work on it at all? If you'd like me to try and draw up a new set of content for the page, I'd be happy to do so. Ghirahim87 16:22, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I was looking at the latest revisions in the wiki and came here out of curiosity! Regarding the page, do you think it could contain enough info that are not found on the page for FSA? I haven't played the game that's why I'm asking. Given that there is no official name for these events and that they happened during the game, I was thinking that maybe it would be better if the section simply linked to the FSA page, which, if it is missing information, can be expanded. Regardless, the "Dark Plague" section needs some attention. I was a bit reluctant to edit it myself, since, as I said, I haven't played the game yet. Zeldafan1982 18:20, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The page is protected because it was repeatedly created with vandalism. As far as content goes, I don't even know what it is. My brother lost my copy of FSA, so I haven't played it in forever. If you could draft something up, we could see if it's worth making a page for.User:Justin/sig 18:35, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
I have played the game through several times, at least once a year to celebrate its birthday, as I do with all the games. I think that, given some of the finer details concerning how the events connect from Twilight Princess and on into the game itself, we could come up with a page that is different enough from the game page that it would be a good addition. For example, we know that the game takes place several hundred years after the end of Twilight Princess and that it begins with the reincarnation of Ganondorf, etc. Also, it's worth noting that almost all event pages are going to have large sections that contain similar information to the game pages, that is largely unavoidable. I can try to write up a draft and present it to you guys for your advice and/or approval if you like. Where would you like me to place it though? Is there a place I can work on it here if the page for the event is not available to be altered? Ghirahim87 18:45, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I would create a personal sandbox page (User:Ghirahim87/sandbox would work just fine) and do it there.User:Justin/sig 18:47, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Deletion Request

Hey while going through the wanted pages I saw a file that was recently deleted but still on a page. When I went there to assassinate the pesky red link myself I was thwarted by the fact that I'm unable to edit the page in question. The Page is http://www.zeldawiki.org/Zelda_Wiki:Door_of_Time/Archive_HCont under the topic of Reference Desk. The deleted file is located on the last paragraph on the top line. I know it's not hurting anyone but I still like to remove it from the wanted pages. Thanks in advance. --User:Shadow Reaper/sig 16:11, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Done! Yay!User:Justin/sig 17:21, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
Aw thank you good sir, also just have to say I love your welcome banner but I feel I must point out........that Pinkie Pie is the one pony to rule them all :P --User:Shadow Reaper/sig 06:40, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
While Pinkie's randomness is often quite entertaining, nopony could be cooler than Rainbow Dash. I mean, come on, she's a girl, but she loves a challenge. Always wanting to be the best... And I really like her mane! But really, if I had to rate the mane six in the order that I like them, it would go something like...
  1. Rainbow
  2. Fluttershy
  3. Twilight
  4. Pinkie
  5. Applejack
  6. Rarity
Just in case anyone wondered about my pony preference. :PUser:Justin/sig 10:59, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

RE: Wiki Exclusive

Hey Justin! I just wanted to ask about the status of that Wiki Exclusive I sent you, and if you were able to review it yet. If not, no rush, I just wanted to check in! Thanks! Setras 22:17, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I was just thinking about this today. I sent you a reply to your email. Sorry about the delay!User:Justin/sig 23:59, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello.

Sorry to bother you. My name is Dr. Pain 99, and I am an established user from fellow NIWA wiki the SmashWiki as well as a former Donkey Kong Wiki administrator. I am contacting you because WiKirby is all but down at this point, and there has been no response from Adam. This is especially concerning because the WiKirby domain name is going to expire soon, and if Adam does nothing about it, WiKirby is gone forever. This is going to seem like quite an unusual request, but I would greatly appreciate it if you used Special:Checkuser on Adam and e-mailed me the IP address so we could potentially track him down and get this problem resolved. I know this is an extreme request, but I view this to be an extreme situation, as an affiliate of ours is potentially going to be gone forever. If you have any other method of contacting him that has not yet been tried (we've tried e-mail and skype already), please don't hesitate to do so. If you have any questions, email me, leave a message on my SmashWiki talk page, or go to SmashWiki's IRC channel. Thank you in advance. Dr. Pain 99 05:22, 3 August 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Disregard the above. As of now, WiKirby seems back online. Again, sorry to disturb. Dr. Pain 99 07:11, 3 August 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Glad it was fixed... somehow. You still need to get in contact with Adam, though. The same thing is just going to happen again unless someone does something. If you're on Skype, my Skype handle can be found here. Otherwise, I'll shoot you an email or something.User:Justin/sig 10:39, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
I don't have a skype. An e-mail will do nicely, thank you. Dr. Pain 99 19:58, 3 August 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've replied, but you might want to check your spam box. The email user function has a tendency to get marked as spam.User:Justin/sig 11:36, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Oddity

Hi Justin! I came across something kind of wierd, so I thought I'd let you know. I made a few edits yesterday, and they showed up in my contributions page, but not in the Recent Changes. I don't know if this is just because the wiki was updating or not, or even if it's really all that significant, but it seemed odd enough that I thought I'd let you know. If it's just a minor glitch, then sorry for taking up space to mention it! :) Setras (talk) 12:59, 18 August 2013 (UTC) EDIT: this one showed up on the page, so yeah, probably just a glitch. Nevermind! :) Setras (talk) 13:01, 18 August 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yeah, that was my doing. I was trying to get us updated to the latest MediaWiki, so I disabled editing. Now that we've updated, I've re-enabled editing. YAY!User:Justin/sig 13:08, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

Minor Error

This is just a minor error but the online user drop box in the recent changes isn't working. The banner says to report something not working to you so yeah.......its nothing big of course but I like seeing who else is on in case I need to quickly report something or just to see what everyones up to. --User:Shadow Reaper/sig 12:01, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Are you sure? It's working fine for me. Try purging your cache and seeing if that fixes it. If not, try viewing it in a different browser. Speaking of, what browser are you using?User:Justin/sig 13:00, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
Internet Explorer......but your right its working fine now must have been a hiccup on my end. --User:Shadow Reaper/sig 13:18, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
Good to know! That's one less thing for me to fix :PUser:Justin/sig 13:25, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Ogg Files

Just to make myself completely clear the Advertisements thing was a problem on my side, but not the uploading of ogg files. I don't mean to press you (really!), just making sure that you know the problem :) Also, another minor thing which probably doesn't have to do with the upgrade. The MIME search doesn't seem to work with ogg files. Do you think this is because they are saved under an images folder or it is irrelevant? Zeldafan1982 (talk) 17:37, 27 August 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hm... that's bad. It seems that we're missing a codec for them. I'll have to look into that. As for the search thing... I have no idea. I'll add it to my growing list. Thank you!User:Justin/sig 10:48, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
I see that you fixed it quite quickly :) Also, I just noticed that the MIME search does work. It requires application/ogg for the ogg files instead of audio/ogg or audio/vorbis. My bad! Zeldafan1982 (talk) 02:57, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Custom citation buttons

There were those handy buttons that you had created if I remember correctly. They no longer appear though :/ Zeldafan1982 (talk) 02:57, 3 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Indeed they are. They were installed via javascript, so I need to figure out what has changed so I can reimplement them. They must have changed the built-in MediaWiki javascript source. But yeah, I know about this one. Caleb won't stop hounding me about it >.>User:Justin/sig 05:40, 3 September 2013 (UTC)

Error creating thumbnail

When uploading Fado artwork I encountered the error: Error creating thumbnail: $1. I tried uploading it more than one to see I it was something one my end, it wasn't. It isn't the file since I've uploaded it to another wiki no problem. I'm not technologically incline, so thanks for any info in advance. Da braviary (talk) 20:11, 8 September 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That's... interesting. I'll have to run some tests and check this out. I'm honestly stumped as to what this could mean, so you'll have to give me time to investigate the issue. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!User:Justin/sig 10:41, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Project Hylian Creed

Hello Justin, I am Tim. I am the last day start with a petition on Change.org and a webpage on Facebook, I call this action Project Hylian Creed. For more clearly about this, for the webpage on Facebook, you can click here and for the petition on Change.org itself, you can click here. Anyway, I want to ask you for your help with this. RE: Multiple edits

All right, thanks for letting me know! I'll be sure to use that from now on.

Outdated file info categories

Hey, I have been in the process of slowly converting all files in the Category:Copyrighted images section to the newest format due to it being easier to locate low quality images and categorize everything neater. I wasn't aware though if that category section is the only one that lists files that have outdated file categories though, is there any others that I should be aware of so I can add them to my workload? -- Kidbuu4ever (talk) 13:35, 8 October 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Another error creating thumbnail

Hello again Justin, when I was uploading some beautiful A Link Between Worlds artwork I noticed that the images were giving "Error creating thumbnail: Invalid thumbnail parameters," I'm not exactly sure what causing it or why it happing.Da braviary (talk) 22:01, 4 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The wiki software has difficulties with large PNGs. We're currently looking into a solution. In the meanwhile, these images can be fixed by scaling them down some.
FYI, that particular error appears when the image is larger than the set limit, which is currently 15 megapixels on Zelda Wiki - that Moblin artwork is ~15.5 MP. We could raise the limit, but the image would just show some other error.
Artwork doesn't ever need to be that big, really. — Hylian King [*] 01:23, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

ZU Forums Staff Boards

Apologies for the big delay on this, but I have created an account on ZU forums, under the name Fizzle, as requested. If you could add me to the staff section, that would be great. While I've been pretty quiet all year (dealing with a lot of personal stuff), my activity is bound to greatly increase once I've played ALBW, this I'm sure. Also, it seems like the Skype chat has moved again, perhaps? I haven't been able to receive updates from any of them. My Skype name has not changed, however, so if I can be added to a new one if there is, that would be awesome. Apologies for the lack of activity. Can't promise I'll be active for awhile either as I'm avoiding spoilers like the plague, but once the game is out I shall be back in action. User:Fizzle/sig 20:54, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Sweet zombie Jesus, I'm sorry, Fizz. I forgot about this. I'll tell someone who can get your account in. My bad, man.User:Justin/sig 02:25, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Poe Soul

Could you please explain why you did this, completely reverting my edit with no edit comment and marking it as "minor", when a large portion of my edit was very basic stuff like changing "dozen-or-so" to "approximately fifteen", etc.? I'm a bit shocked, honestly.KrytenKoro (talk) 14:46, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yikes! That was definitely unintentional, so I reverted it. Sorry bout that!User:Justin/sig 14:48, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Oh thanks! I was really worried I had stepped on someone's toes with that edit.
I did have something I wanted to point you to, though: regarding Zuna, I deleted the theory again because the quality standards state that theories have to have evidence, but because Tetraforce is undeniably a big part of fandom history and should not just be deleted, I had a proposal at Talk:Tetraforce to set up a Community:Discredited Theories article; something that chronicles the history of popular fandom theories that, either due to later canon or simply because the original ignored pertinent info in foreign-language/obscure parts of the original canon, had to be thrown out. The Agahnim c Zuna theory would fit there, I think, and doing this wouldn't require a major rework to our current quality standards. Could you give your opinion on that page?KrytenKoro (talk) 15:01, 30 January 2014 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, I'm not really sure what I did there. I must've edited an outdated version of the page by mistake while doing diff comparisons.
And I did see your post about theories, but I'm not really sure how I feel about that at the moment. I know the quality standards for theories are pretty dated, considering that we never thought about changing them after Hyrule Historia dropped. Perhaps it's time we discussed making changes to them, after all. In any case, I'm a little preoccupied with some server-side stuff ATM, but I'll read through it and put in my two cents later.User:Justin/sig 15:17, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
