As its name suggests, the dagger is [[Princess Zelda]]'s secondary weapon to defend herself, the main one being [[Zelda's Bow|her bow]]. Throughout the book, Zelda uses the dagger to defend herself from various enemies. Since the dagger is rather weak and has such a short range, Zelda only uses this weapon when fighting small, easy enemies such as [[Boomerang Demon]]s.<ref name=arrow>{{Cite Book|quote='Drat!' she yells. 'Arrows are no good against these monsters.' She draws her dagger to fend off the weird flying goblins.'|book= TCT|publisher= |page=65}}</ref> Moreover, the princess also uses her dagger when she has run out of arrows or when the bow is ineffective against a certain enemy, making this weapon her only chance of survival.<ref name=arrow/><ref>{{Cite Book|quote=Zelda reaches for one more arrow to send after the retreating horde. At one point in the book, Zelda uses her dagger to retrieve the [[Handprint]] in the [[Dark Tower]].<ref>{{Cite Book|quote=With the point of her dagger, Zelda carefully priest at the stones around it until the handprint comes free.
