BotW's timeline placement has not been officially confirmed. Furthermore, it references multiple timelines and is largely inconsistent. A Child Timeline placement is simply fan theory at this time.

Ten Thousands Years Ago
Ten thousands years prior to BotW, Hylians became a highly advanced civilization and were able to create mechanical beings known as Guardians, that were able to fight against monsters and brought peace and a new era to Hyrule. To allow peace to remain at Hyrule, they also created the Divine Beasts for each of the four Champions to prepare themselves for when Ganon - now branded as Calamity Ganon - returns and attempts to destroy the kingdom. When Calamity Ganon returned, the Guardians protected Link and Zelda as they attacked, and the Divine Beasts were able to weaken Calamity Ganon for Link to deliver the final blow. Zelda then used the sacred powers to seal Calamity Ganon away from Hyrule.
One Hundred Years Ago
After ten thousand years when Calamity Ganon was sealed, Zelda and King Rhoam felt the seal of Calamity Ganon to weaken - for example causing more monsters to spawn or Death Mountain acting abnormal - and planned to search for the ancestors of the four Champions and Link to help recover and take control over the Guardians once more. Zelda and Link began to study the Divine Beasts and the Guardians to learn how to use to their potential, but Zelda hasn't earned the Triforce of Wisdom yet, whilst Link was able to wield the Master Sword. Because of this, Zelda trained her whole life by King Rhoam's orders to awaken her power within, instead of researching the Divine Beasts and Guardians. Frustrated, Zelda attempted to awaken her power by praying to the Goddesses, at the Spring of Power, Courage and Wisdom, whilst Link aided her and rounded up the four Champions. Failing at the Spring of Wisdom, Calamity Ganon suddenly returned and broke from its seal.
The four Champions went to their Divine Beasts, while Zelda and Link began to fight their way to Calamity Ganon. However, they underestimated Calamity Ganon's power, as it was able to take full control over the Divine Beasts (entrapping the four Champions within) and the Guardians, leading to devastation over Hyrule. The badly-injured Link and Zelda was surprised-attacked by a Guardian when retreating, only for Zelda to use the Triforce of Wisdom to deactivate the surrounding Guardians to save Link's life. Despite this, Link collapses onto the ground, presumed dead, only for Fi to briefly communicate with Zelda through the Master Sword saying Link can be saved, and is taken to the Shrine of Resurrection by two Sheikah fighters to be recovered one hundred years later. Whilst he was recovering, Zelda took the Master Sword to the Great Deku Tree in the Lost Woods to keep an eye on, and places in the pedestal for Link to pull out when he is recovered. She tells the Great Deku Tree to carry out her message and heads to Hyrule Castle to try and seal Calamity Ganon on her own. Because of how weak she was, she was only able to seal Calamity Ganon within Hyrule Castle and trapping Zelda in Malice, where Zelda is only able to communicate with Link briefly (when he recovers) and keep Calamity Ganon from attacking Hyrule.
Awakening after One Hundred Years
Link recovers from his wounds one hundred years later in the Shrine of Resurrection, but has lost his memories after waking up, wear Link must restore his memories and defeat Calamity Ganon before he is released and destroys Hyrule. Unlike the previous games, Link is able to head straight away to Calamity Ganon and defeat shortly after his awakening (although this isn't recommended), or choose to find out what has happened to him, free the Divine Beasts and wield the Master Sword.
This game takes place after the events of TP, but is not confirmed how long after, as this game could take place before or after the events of FSA.
