"An Eerie Voice" is a Side Adventure in Tears of the Kingdom.[1]

Overview

As part of the "Potential Princess Sightings!" Side Adventure, Link can find Penn at Highland Stable investigating a rumor connected to Princess Zelda. According to Penn, people at the Stable are hearing a voice that sounds like Zelda's echoing from Fural Plain night after night.[2] Penn investigated himself but fled after hearing it and becoming frightened.[3] He questions if the voice was really Zelda's and reminds Link all they can do is look for the truth.[4] He then suggests they investigate together and tells Link to come speak to him again at night.[5][6]

Once night falls, Penn will fly out into Fural Plain and call for Link to follow him.[7] However, upon hearing the mysterious voice nearby, he becomes so scared he cannot move.[8] Link can follow the voice to the Haran Lakefront Well, where he will find Sagessa singing.[9] When confronted, Sagessa is confused by what Link is talking about.[10][11] She then explains what she was actually singing.[12] Since people were throwing Weapons down the Well in accordance with what they thought the voice was saying, Sagessa put them in a pile near the wall since they could be dangerous.[13] She tells Link he is free to take them if he wants.[14]

Back outside the Well, Link explains the situation to Penn, who muses the Well both made Sagessa's voice sound like Zelda's and distorted her words.[15][16] Penn thanks Link for his help and rewards him before flying off to write an article on the story.
