Armor Upgrades are a recurring mechanic in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][name references needed]

Overview

Breath of the Wild

The four Great Fairies can enhance Link's Armor once Link pays a certain amount of Rupees to restore their Great Fairy Fountains. The restorations cost 100, 500, 1,000, and 10,000 Rupees, increasing with each Great Fairy Fountain that Link unlocks.

Each Armor Upgrade requires a certain amount of Materials.

Each Upgrade increases the Defense value of the Armor. The progression is consistent across Armors—all Armor with the same initial Defense value will also have the same Defense any any given upgrade level. The progressions are as follows:

At any given level, all Armor pieces in an Armor Set have the same Defense value. Most require the same Materials to upgrade and have the same Sell Price as well—these Armor pieces are listed under the name of their Armor Set.

Tears of the Kingdom

Each Armor Upgrade requires a certain amount of Materials and Rupees. The required Rupees are 10 Rupees for ★, 50 Rupees for ★★, 200 Rupees for ★★★, and 500 Rupees for ★★★★ for all Armor except the Ancient Hero's Aspect, which requires triple the amount of Rupees for each upgrade (30, 150, 600, 1500).

At any given level, all Armor pieces in an Armor Set have the same Defense value. Most require the same Materials to upgrade and have the same Sell Price as well—these Armor pieces are listed under the name of their Armor Set.

Trivia

  • In Breath of the Wild, upgrading Barbarian Set pieces to level ★★ reduces their Sell Price by 60 Rupees, and level ★★★ pieces sell for the same price as ★ pieces. All other Armor Upgrades in the game increase the Armor's value.
