Advisor is technically not an misspelling of adviser. Both are correct, it just depends on where you are or who you ask. I think we should remove the typo tags, and I'll do it soon if nobody opposes. User:Italiangenius91/sig 21:03, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

I oppose, in that case. :P But seriously, I can't say I've ever seen advisor spelled that way. I ran it through ever spell check I saw, and it says it's "Advisor" as opposed to "Adviser" in everything except Google Chrome. I'm not a language expert, but I do have some experience in writing. Obviously, some people spell "through" as "thru" these days, but that doesn't make it correct. Just my opinion, though. Alter  {T C B H } 21:48, November 18, 2009 (UTC)
It's a word with two acceptable spellings, sort of like "grey" and "gray."Ganondorfdude11 22:06, 18 November 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
For future reference, if there's a discussion going on about something, you don't just go ahead and "do" it. As I previously mentioned, I've only ever seen that one spelling in American English. It was discussed by a couple of the admins and I before it was ever even implemented. This instance is actually how that template was created. Anyway, I'll leave this up to the others, but don't do go ahead and change it with other issues before thorough discussion, especially if someone opposes it. Even so, even if it's just American English, it is still a form of the word. In the same way that I understand that colour and color are the same thing, I understand that adviser and advisor are the same thing. And I do understand that we should wait for discussion, since that's how wiki's work, and though you weren't scolding me (I think) I'm still making sure we're clear. No, I wasn't scolding. I'm not thrilled about it, but not particularly upset. ;) I finally gave in, and asked my girlfriend's dad, who's an editor for a magazine. He said that the only spelling he'd ever seen was with an "O". And as to your example, colour is a word, but it's not American English. It's British English. (And this Wiki is set up as an American English site.) Alter  {T C B H } 18:08, November 19, 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I was just making a point that different spellings are still good. But I believe we're done with this debate, so there we are... User:Italiangenius91/sig 19:47, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
lol I suppose it is, but the point was that the game was in American English, and that they spelled it in some odd way. But anyway, I don't really care. G'day. Alter  {T C B H } 20:02, November 19, 2009 (UTC)
