Merging Hiploop with Helmasaur

From the article:

The Helmasaur's Japanese name is Hiploop (ヒップループ), so this is the same enemy as the Hiploop from Majora's Mask.

If that's so, then shouldn't the Hiploop page be merged with this? What do you guys think? Dany36 20:08, 19 July 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The hiploop page has a completely different Japanese name on it: Hiploop (ヒップループ, Hipuruupu). Somewhere, something is wrong. I'd hold off a merge until someone can find the error. I'll try to find someone that can really speak Japanese to have a look. Axiomist (talk) 00:25, 20 July 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
1 Hiploop is probably a localization of Hipuruupu, so they might have just said Hiploop so others would understand. 2 The Japanese characters are identical, which reinforces point 1.
You know my stance. If Volvagia and Barba are merged, these should be too. Triforce (T C) 03:45, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, I personally know your stance but if you and I aren't here next year and someone asks why these articles were merged, we'd have the comments archived in the talk pages. The reasons can be evaluated then, instead of leaving confusion. I thank thee for following ZW consensus guidelines. Axiomist (talk) 03:54, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok! I didn't saw what was above before submitting the merge :p The japanese name is confirmed here: A Link to the Past Translations. Helmasaur from Four Swords are also called Hiploop, and Iron Masks are sometimes referred to as Hiploops as well. Jeangabin 21:35, 9 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hiploop and Hipuruupu are pronounced the same in japanese: "r"="l" and "oo"="uu"="ou" (+ note that the kanji are the same). Jeangabin 19:28, 11 June 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Avian?

There's no mention on the page of a bird-like Iron Mask, Helmasaur, or Hiploop. Is this a reference to the Helmarok King? If so, it's not listed here and for obvious reasons shouldn't. Any thoughts on the matter? --KingStarscream 11:17, 22 November 2011 (EST)

Removed for reasons stated above. It's possible that someone meant bug-like. —Darkness(Talk) 00:10, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Prize Packs

Please forgive if my formatting is completely noncompliant (first ever wiki edit anywhere), but I was baffled to read that in alttp the Ether medallion rewards fairies on use against helmasaurs. This is actually not specific to the Ether medallion. All medallion kills also have a 50% chance of incrementing the prize pack reward for that enemy group (same drop chance as normal kills). This particular enemy has a fairy at the 2nd and last slots of the prize pack, and it's very common to receive a fairy upon killing your first helmasaur in Palace of Darkness. While the speedrun ignores two blue guards in the Castle Tower that also have this prize pack (or dashes through them to avoid incrementing the pack counter), it's very common to get a fairy here if you accidentally kill it. I did testing in the practice hack just to be sure that this behavior is consistent throughout the game, and I can verify there are no Ether-specific fairy drops for this enemy (and likely none elsewhere). I don't want to just wily-nilly edit the document as a brand new member, but I thought this was worth saying somewhere. If there aren't any resources on prize packs in this wiki for alttp, I can link to a separate speedrunning wiki that can be useful for explaining this in more detail.
